Hi, I'm Amy! I am Texas born and raised, a huge animal lover, and have spent most of my life with a pet in the home. In 2022 my love of animals (and corporate burnout) led me to transition from a Human Resources/Client Services professional to a Pet Care professional, providing high-quality services to a new kind of client. I've found this career pivot to be a natural fit that allows me to do work that I love and that comes easy to me - loving pets and supporting their people. My most recent work in the HR field was with a veterinary healthcare corporation which allowed me to deepen my pet care knowledge. Previously in my hometown community, I volunteered and fostered at the local SPCA as well as a local pet rescue group. I've been supporting Rover clients and their pets since September 2022. I had pet cats in my early childhood that I helped care for and dogs throughout my lifetime. Currently, I'm a proud mom to two senior rescue dogs, each with their own unique needs. My Maggie girl can become reactive and experience fear aggression, so I'm skilled in careful observation of her and our surroundings while on our walks, planning ahead, and intervening when necessary to keep everyone safe. This skill has easily transferred to supporting clients who may be reactive around other pets/people and maintaining safety when off-leash dogs are encountered on walks. I'm skilled with medication administration as my dogs are medicated at least twice daily. Previously, I worked in human healthcare as a medical assistant and attended LVN school so I am comfortable administering injectable medications when given clear instructions.

My top priority is ensuring everyone's safety. For this reason, all dogs in my care will stay on leash while in unfenced areas. If I observe a potential safety hazard or health concern with your pet, I will share feedback and provide recommendations when I believe intervention is needed. I ask all clients to provide an emergency contact and local vet contact info for any drop-in or housesitting bookings. When temperatures and weather conditions are extreme (90+ degrees, lightning storms, freezing temps, etc) walks and time spent outside will be limited and adjusted accordingly to keep everyone safe. One of the biggest measures of success I hold myself to is your pet(s) enjoying their time with me. To make the most of our time together, I'd love to hear about your pet's preferences, habits, and needs. I'm adaptable and flexible in my approach as I know every pet has its own unique personality, likes and dislikes, and quirks. At the end of a walk or drop-in visit, I will send you a detailed recap of the visit which will include multiple photos. For house-sitting bookings, I will send a high-level update with pictures at the end of each day. If a client needs more specific or frequent updates, please let me know prior to booking. My ultimate goal is to put all my clients at ease so they can trust that their pets are safe, well cared for, and loved while they are away.

A typical day
I have a wooded trail around my home that my dogs and I love to walk daily. I'm a huge fan of Austin's park scene and the great outdoors so if the weather allows for it, I'm happy to take your pet(s) for an adventure at an area park or trail, or their favorite spot. I have a social dog of mine that I can bring along if you think they would like some canine company. If your dog is more of a homebody, they're in good company and I can focus the majority of our time on their favorite indoor activities. I'm open and adaptable to meeting them where they're at and making sure they have an enjoyable visit!

Availability
Presently, pet care services are my full-time job and I treat it as such. Most days you can find me visiting clients' homes for walks, drop-ins, and house-sitting, 7 days a week, anywhere from 8:00 AM to 11 PM. Due to the unpredictable nature of animals, traffic, schedule changes, and balancing my own needs, I schedule walks or drop-in visits to occur within a one-hour scheduling window. If you need a more narrow time window or require a visit at a specific time, please let me know prior to booking and I'm happy to do whatever I can to accommodate. Housesitting/overnight care: As I have two senior dogs at home, I am unable to offer overnight stays in clients' homes. When I house-sit, I provide three visits/24-hour period that are each 30-60 mins long. While I will be visiting other clients throughout the day as well as my own pets, I will spend extended time in your home whenever schedules allow it. If more frequent care or longer visits are needed, this can be added to a booking at a discounted rate. I'm happy to check mail, water plants, etc. as requested and at no additional cost.
