Pet care experience
I'm a dog, cat and outdoor enthusiast who's owned, fostered, volunteered and cared for many animals over 30+ years. Loved our family cat Abby for 19 wonderful years, and always wanted a dog growing up so I got my fix by walking neighbors dogs as much as they'd let me. Later I gained experience working as a part-time vet technician, and also volunteered for several years at Kent County Humane Society in west Michigan, and locally at the Portsmouth Humane Society. A highlight of my animal/volunteer experience was helping out as a Vet Check & Handler for mushers at the UP200 sled dog race (Iditarod qualifier) in Michigan's upper peninsula in February! Most recently I cared for a friend's black lab mix Barbie for 2 weeks in northern California; we visited the Modoc County Museum, rock hunted on Devil's Garden, and hiked Cedar Pass (profile pic.) Looking forward to walking your pupp or giving your cat some attention :)

Amy dropped in on my furry family twice while I was away. She was fantastic. Amy was quick to respond and easy to work with. She was responsible for feeding and cleaning the litter. All was in perfect order upon my return. I would recommend Amy to anyone looking for a sitter
I highly recommend Amy as a dog sitter or walker. She has had a lot of experience with animals and dogs over the years. I lived either with or near Amy during her time as a part time vet tech as well as when she was volunteering at the Humane Shelter. I experienced many play dates with her and the dog she fostered for some time. I know she is a go to for many friends as a dog sitter and I personally trust her with my own pup. Amy is a genuinely caring person who understands dogs needs. I know that she will treat any pup like her own, she'll be attentive, ensure they're fed, walked and snuggled!
Amy has been an avid animal & outdoor enthusiast for all of her 30 years. She has been the primary care-giver for 3 family cats; an original family cat, then she volunteered to take in a friend’s cat (when they couldn’t take care of it), and then raised her hand to adopt our neighbors cat, Winston, who is with us to this day . What sets her apart is the sincere and loving way she interacts with dogs & cats. They must sense it, as, everywhere she goes they find her as a new friend. I highly recommend her! I inherited a cat a few years back and quickly realized that my heart was not sufficiently into caring for this pet. But I was only willing to give it to someone who I knew was trustworthy and who really wanted him. That became my neighbor, Amy S. She has cared for Winston ever since. He is very attached to her and for good reason. She gives him a lot of attention and meets all his needs. I am forever grateful that this situation worked out for the best, for everyone.

I like to know about any health concerns, behavioral issues, etc ahead of time so that I can effectively accommodate any special needs or requests for each client's pet. Clear communication ahead of time and reminder notes left out in the home are always appreciated.
A typical day
I've always loved walking dogs; great exercise for everyone and so comforting to have a buddy to go explore the world with. Playing fetch with the long-handled throwing arm is another favorite pupp activity. I love to go anywhere naturey on a walk if possible.

Since my current work schedule and salary aren't the right fit for the full-time care my own pet would require, I get my fix caring for the pets of others :)
