Pet care experience
I'm an adult, responsible pet owner who loves dogs & cats and has been helping my friends and neighbors take care of their best friends since my first job at a veterinary hospital taking care of the boarded pets 25+ years ago. My own super sweet border collie mix doggie just passed recently, but helping you with your pets keeps that furry love & joy in my life. I love to take long walks with your pets or go to local dog parks for play and socialization. I'm also just as happy to play and give love and attention to your at-home pets or older ones who need extra time and attention or just to walk slowly and smell the roses. After a millions trips to the dog park with my own dog, I'm comfortable working with all breeds, sizes and temperments of dogs-I love getting to know their unique personalities and finding just where they like to get the good scratches. I'm calm & patient but can also be full of energy to meet the needs of a young pup who needs to burn off some extra energy or can take as much time as your senior pet needs to get where they are going. I have experience with giving medications and I also keep up to date with pet first aid/CPR classes as well as keep a first aid kit for pets in my car. I'll treat your dog or cat with the same love and care I would give to my own, and believe me, mine pretty much had me trained. I like to go the extra mile to make sure you and your pet are comfortable, happy and having great fun with me as their caretaker. I'm a great communicator and will keep you posted in detail about what your pet and I have been up to while you're away.

Amy did great house sitting for our 11 year old Lab and two cats. She sent us daily updates with lots of cute pictures, and made sure everyone was comfortable. We would definitely like her to watch our pets again, everyone seemed happy when we returned and the house was clean! Thanks again Amy!

Amy was an amazing house sitter and dog sitter for our family. We felt that she was extremely communicative and caring. Amy clearly has a lot of experience with dogs and knew how to maneuver behavioral situations mindfully. Our dogs got great outdoor time and we came home to happy pups! We would recommend her to anyone looking for a loving and responsible sitter/walker.
Amy took great care of Pepper! Pepper can be shy at first but really warmed up to Pepper. While I don't currently care for pets in my own home, due to having 2 sweet kitty cat housemates who like their own space, I'm happy to come watch pets in your home and happy to follow your schedule/routine for their care, no matter how detailed it might be. I like to keep things familiar and the routine regular so your pets always feel at home and relaxed.

I schedule a meet and greet with all new pets, so you can meet me ahead of time and make sure I'm a good match with your dog or cat and also with you. I can then also get to know if your pet has any special needs/requests/personality quirks that are good to know to keep them safe and happy on walks. With that in mind, I have no breed preferences, but be mindful that I can't bring an aggressive dog to the dog park or one that can't be controlled on leash out on walks outside the home.
A typical day
I love to either take long walks around the neighborhood or to all the many local parks, and I love mixing things up so your dog always has something new to smell and good scenery to take in. I can do 30min-1 hr. dog walks, depending on what you prefer and if your dog loves nothing more than to walk to the park and to chase balls or the frisbee all day,I'm happy to do it! For drop in visits I'll let your pet out for a potty break & play time in the yard and will also give them lots of love, attention and pets (from a professional massage therapist!), play with them on the floor, teach them some tricks or make up games inside for some mental stimulation like "hide the treats". I love getting goofy with your pet if play is their thing or simply giving scratches to them the whole time if that's what makes them woof or purr. I used to walk my own dog in ALL weather, so I'm never deterred in getting out there no matter what time of year or what kind of weather.
