Vet Tech/Dog Foster, Come Play!

Pet care experience

My life revolves around animals. My career is in animal welfare, I am a certified vet tech in the state of MA (I currently do not practice but my licensing is kept active and up to date) and I foster dogs for a rescue organization whenever I can. At the moment I have two dogs (Lily and Jack), one cat (Oona), a leopard gecko (Ian), and 3 retired research hero rats (Peter, Miles, Ned)! I also have experience with small animals and fish. I can administer any medications via any routes if needed and can assist with basic training. In my personal circles I am the resident pet question answerer, emergency contact, pet visitor/sitter, nail trimmer, injury assessor, fish feeder, matted fur remover, and best pup/kitty aunty :) I love every creature I meet and treat them with love and care while respecting their boundaries. I am especially in tune with pets that are nervous, anxious or otherwise need additional patience. I know how difficult it is to leave your loved one in the care of someone else, I want to provide you the peace of mind that your pet will be safe, loved, and happy. I will always try my best to accommodate any special requests!

This is our second time having Amy as our cat sitter. We were away for 2 nights and had Amy visit our cat, Noodle, twice. Just like the first when we had Amy as our cat sitter, she was amazing and took great care of Noodle this time. Our cat Noodle is good with having people around when we are in the room with him, but can be wary of human beings if we are not home. Amy went above and beyond to give Noodle space and time for him to warm up and get to know her. Amy is very sweet, loving, responsible, and familiar with cats’ temperament. During each visit, Amy not only provided Noodle with his life essentials (fresh wet food, clean litter boxes, some treats, etc), but also offered him much-needed human companionship, social interactions, playtime, and plenty of love! We also want to express our appreciation for how respectful and accommodating Amy has always been to our (two humans’) routine. She even washed the wet food cans and food dishes from the previous day. It was so heartwarming and her help means so much to us. Amy also sent us many, many cute pictures of Noodle. As velcro humans (aka being so memorized by cats’ cuteness that we want to be around Noodle all the time), we were delighted to see new pictures and detailed updates/visit notes sent by Amy during our trip. We are very grateful to have worked with Amy twice and will always look forward to having her as our cat sitter again. We are a couple whose entire families are living overseas so we can’t have family members help us. Noodle can be a handful so we also try not to subject our friends to his fuzziness. We are thrilled to work with Amy, a professional, responsible, loving, and just simply amazing cat sitter. We would highly recommend working with Amy to all kitties and their parents!

Amy was an exceptional cat sitter and we highly recommend her. I was very anxious about leaving my cat alone for an extended period but Amy was reassuring and made me feel comfortable that our cat would be in good hands, and boy was he ever. She loved him like her own and appreciated his big personality. She sent me detailed messages and photos/videos daily and was very communicative while I traveled across various time zones. We came home to a healthy and happy cat who received lots of love while we were gone thanks to Amy.

Amy took care of our dog Duna for 11 days, which is the most we have ever left her. Duna loves being around Amy, her family, and pets. We were happy to learn that Duna had a great time through the multiple photos, updates, and videos that Amy sent us throughout Duna's stay at her place. Amy has been dog sitting Duna since we adopted her and is aware of her progress from being an anxious dog to enjoying being around people. Duna's progress has, without a doubt, been positively influenced by Amy, who has poured her with love since she met her. Amy, thanks so so much for caring for our baby. We are deeply grateful!

I have a fenced in yard where your pup can play with my super friendly pups (7 yo and 2 yo 40-50lb mutts.) my male dog does exert dominance on his turf so if you have a like-minded larger male dog, we may not be the best match for you ;) We live on a very quiet culdesac in a wonderful community with lots of children and pets. When the weather is nice we sometimes hang out at the culdesac with the kids and dogs. I have a crate I can use if needed and have all other supplies we may need. As a vet tech I am hyper aware of any potential safety hazards. Your pet is safe with me! I have two children 7 and 10 who are very pet savvy. Dogs are allowed on the couches and snuggles are encouraged! My dogs sleep on a dog beds on the floor next to our bed, happy to bring your pup to bed with us or to have them sleep in the crate.

Information Amy K. would like to know about your pet

I need to know if your dog gets along with dogs, cats and children. If you have a large (>40lb) male dog, it’s important for me to know how dominant they are and how they react to dominance in other dogs. I do very frequently have more then one dog here for daycare so I need to ensure all the personalities will fit well together. I also need to know if your dog has any specific fears, injuries/illnesses, allergies, preferences, behaviors etc. For new doggy clients we must set up time to meet my dogs to ensure everyone gets along and is safe. I want to make sure your pet is at home here! For in home cat visits please give me any special instructions or special care your pet needs. Also, information about where things are stored in case I need them is helpful (extra food, litter, trash bags, cleaning supplies etc) ***IMPORTANT: I have a severe nut allergy, please do not feed your dog any snacks with nuts prior to bringing to me, I also cannot give any treats that contain nuts.

A typical day

On days I am working from home I take frequent breaks to provide your pet with love and potty breaks. Your pup can play with my dogs in the house and in our fenced in back yard. I try to take a lunch break and play with the dogs, or take a walk. Once I pick up my kids in the afternoon they usually play with the dogs. If the weather is nice I will walk the dogs to get the kids as the school is close by. I also like to play games with the dogs and fit in training in short bursts during the day. On weekends we may go to the dog park or for a longer hike/walk!

I am only away shortly to pick up my children from school in the afternoon on W and F, and am happy to bring your pet with me if preferred.
