Pet care experience

Shamefully, I admit I grew up with cats, but I promise that means I'm very patient, not afraid of teeth and claws, and I'm good at searching for and finding poop. Since I left home, I've lived with several different kinds of dogs, and they've all more fun, loving, energizing, and interesting than cats. I see Rover as an opportunity to earn a little more money in a wonderful way. I've got a pretty flexible schedule that allows me to move things around, so I am open to change, and am available for one time visits, substituting in for others, and could possibly work around shifting schedules. If I'm away or have to cancel, I'll notify with as much advancement as possible; I know there is a life counting on me! My pet care routine is what works for each dog and owner. Generally, I avoid overindulging, giving treats for no reason, and try to establish a friendship with understanding and listening. Once that's sort of clear, I love cuddling and playing to the point of somebody's exhaustion. Walking can be whatever pace works. I'm totally open to an owner's style and requests. One of my favorite things in the world is watching euphoric dogs stick their heads out the windows of a moving car.

Amy H. Would be an excellent dog sitter because of her loving, empathetic nature. She grew up in a household of dos and cats and knows what to do.

Information Amy H. would like to know about your pet

First I'd like to know what health condition the dog is in, exactly what meds, behaviors, treatments, are needed and things to expect. I perfer smaller dogs. I've lived with a bichon frise, a pit mix, corgis, beagles, and jack russels, all very different, but I felt comfortable knowing I could pick them up (except the pit, easily). I've been good or maybe lucky with very anxious and overly excited dogs and can generally get them to calm down.

A typical day

I know Baltimore City pretty well, and feel comfortable walking the sidewalks of most neighborhoods. I live next to several dog and family friendly parks and fields, in a residential neighborhood. Where we walk, how long, and what pace will totally depend on wherever owners and dogs prefer. (I am not a fast runner!) I've learned going up and down stairs is a really good way to get your dog exercise during bad weather, and am open to creative alternatives to walking outdoors, fetch, etc if needed. I'd be worried about letting a dog in a dog park until I saw how they got along with others.
