All dogs have the basic needs of exercise and nutrition, hygiene and medical care, but I think going the extra mile is a must to ensure both a mentally healthy dog as well as one that has a good relationship with people. I believe exercise should be in the form of playtime or fun. Some dogs like to fetch, some like to swim (mine!), some like to go on runs and prefer a slow stroll. Whichever it is, the goal is to have fun (and stay safe)! On top of that, I make sure dogs in my care always have water and get fed at the appropriate time and get as many potty breaks as they need. And in between there's always room for snuggles!
