Pet care experience
PLEASE READ THE SECTION TITLED "WHAT AMY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DOG" IN FULL. I HAVE LIMITED AVAILABILITY DURING THE DAY DUE TO RECENTLY GOING TO WORK FULL TIME AT AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I’m Amy and I absolutely love dogs. They are incredibly sweet and loyal souls and I believe that we should give them all the love and kindness they deserve. Each one is highly intelligent and unique, their personalities so fun to discover and experience. Being a pet sitter means I can work everyday with these amazing animals, providing my lifelong expertise and skills to any pup in need. I don’t remember a time where pups have not been a part of my life and the love I have for them has only increased over the years. Currently, I’m the proud owner of three Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malmutes! In addition to my current pets, my family owned dogs and cats all throughout my childhood. A few years ago I even traveled to Thailand to work with dogs, cats, and elephants with a licensed vet. While working with the dogs and cats, we were able to observe and assist with spays and neuters and also learned basic restraint techniques and preventative treatments for canines. I have also volunteered with the humane society in Augusta, Georgia, working with senior cats and assisting on kennel and litter box cleanup. I know how important it is to be open and communicative with both my furry and human clients so when first meeting a pup, I would get down on their level so they can warm up to me as quickly as possible. If the dog has trust issues or is a little standoffish, I think that taking things slower and letting the pup come to you is important. By getting down on the dog’s level, I can make sure they don’t feel threatened, which is a great place to start. From there, it's just about reading the dog and learning how they react and hopefully building a relationship of trust from there. I know how hard it is to be away from your fur babies so I will be in consistent and constant communication, sending photo and text updates daily so you know how your pup is doing in my care. Additionally, I’ll be sure to follow your care instructions to a ‘T’ because you know your dog best! I can’t wait to meet you!

I have a privacy fenced in backyard. I have a sweet, 8 year old Siberian Husky and a goofy 9 year old Alaskan Malamute mix. Both are sweet boys. I also have two kitties who believe they're in charge of the dogs.

I will do my best to respond to all requests within thirty minutes or less between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Requests on the weekends may take a little longer, but I still do try to respond within an hour or two. I may still respond outside of that timeframe, but please understand I do have a loving husband and my own pups that need my attention as well! In order to get back to you as quickly as possible, it helps tremendously to have a description of your situation, what kind of service you're looking for, and the times that work best for you. With new clients, I require meet and greets prior to agreeing to a booking for personal safety and to ensure your dog and I will be a good fit. That being said, last minute requests (e.g. same day/day before requests) may not be booked, depending on the situation and timeline I'm working with. I love dogs of all kinds, but in order to provide the best service to both humans and pets alike, I would appreciate transparency about the dogs temperament and demeanor from the beginning. I would need to know how much training they've had for walks and on leash, how well they walk on a leash (especially if you're booking a 30 minute walk), if there's any kind of ecollars that have been used for training and discipline, if they're on any medications, any special dietary needs/restrictions, etc. Basically anything that is the norm for the pup, I need to know. Dogs like routines! I would be sure to make the dog feel comfortable and safe at all times. I have no breed preferences other than not keeping dogs under 25 pounds at my house as my dogs are all 70+ pounds. I like to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy! I can’t wait to meet your furry friend!
A typical day
On a stay with me, your pup will be safe and happy. We’ll take walks around your neighborhood and explore new smells and sounds. If you’re okay with me transporting your dog to a nearby park, we’ll hit trails or greenways to burn off some energy. If your dog prefers to relax at home or moves a bit slower, there’s truly nothing better than cuddling up on the couch with a furry friend! No matter what your pup needs for a happy stay, I’ll provide it!

My current schedule is limited to mostly weekends! I'm working full time at Highland Animal Hospital, so my evenings and weekends are going to be my most open times.
