Fun and responsible dog lover!
Pet care experience
Aloha! I am a working professional living in Honolulu in Kakaako. I am a dog lover but not ready to take on the full responsibilities of a permanent dog owner (soon!) Meanwhile, dog sitting is a great way to spend time with dogs. I am a fun-loving dog sitter and have grown up with dogs my entire life. I am responsible, respectful, and I follow any and all of the rules that you have in your home and will always notify you immediately if there is an emergency regarding your pets. Your dog is the only dog in the home while we are dog-sitting. This is why my rates may be a bit higher. They have my utmost attention, and I ensure they are well-loved and taken care of. I will consider litter mates or two dogs as long as they are both house-trained and do not exhibit aggression towards other dogs or people since it’s more difficult to control two dogs while on a walk. Owners: Please be direct about your dog and any issues such as separation anxiety, aggression towards other dogs or people. It helps to have this information and expectations while dog-sitting. Note: I live in an apartment building and unfortunately, cannot dog sit a dog if they are extremely aggressive towards other dogs or people. Mahalo for understanding. Drop off: I can be flexible but I may just have to work around some of my meetings during work hours. Pick up: I prefer around the same time they were picked up but are flexible, given it's an hour or two. If it's 3+ hours, a surcharge may apply - Rover will calculate the rate automatically.
Reviews
Amy was great! My dog spent the day with her in daycare and had a fun time. She liked Amy from the start, giving her the happy dance at first meeting. I especially liked that Amy took her for a nice walk, and that she works from home. Amy is very responsive and easy to work with. Thanks, Amy!
Amy was great with our timid little rescue pup! We're excited to have someone in town that we can trust Kona with. We'll definitely book with Amy again!
Amy was an amazing sitter! We needed a sitter on short notice and she responded quickly to help us. She even let us extend our time to make our anniversary that much better. She took excellent care of our dog and even sent photo updates to ease any worries. I’d highly recommend Amy because she was always in contact with us and provided excellent care. Thank you again!
Amy took great care of our dog! We could tell when we picked him up that she brushed him every day. She works from home and he became very attached to her over the few days he stayed with her. We will definitely be using Amy again!

I live in a high-rise building, and they have access to our whole apartment. I will always notify you immediately if there is an emergency regarding your pets. If no emergency vet is listed, I will go to the nearest one with availability. I typically walk dogs 3x a day minimum: first thing in the morning, after work (5-6 pm), and before bedtime. If permitted, I will take them to the beach or hiking. I always follow the owner's feeding schedule and other rules so as not to break any habits at home (ex: being allowed on furniture or not). I specialize in older/senior dogs so I know how to administer medications (oral medications, eye drops, and insulin shots). I have also taken care of rescue dogs with trauma and understand dogs with anxiety or fear of things like loud noises, fireworks, etc. I can easily crate your dog if needed. If they tend to chew on things or go through the trash, let me know, and I can prevent that from happening!

Information Amy A. would like to know about your pet
How is he around strangers and other dogs? (Example: running into people or other dogs while walking him). Does your dog have any separation anxiety? Are there health problems or issues I should know about? Does he/she know any commands? Barking issues? What is their feeding schedule? Is your dog leash trained? What should I know to make them comfortable?
A typical day
During the week, I work from home so your dog will always have company! On weekends, I usually spend the weekend planning around being home with the dog or enjoying the great weather with him/her as much as possible. Lengthy walks and romps around the dog park. I'll play with them using their toys and lots of cuddles.

Availability
I work from home, so I am home most of the time with your dog. Dogs may be left alone during work hours for a few hours at most. On weekends, I either take your dog with us on outdoor excursions (if permitted). If your dog has separation anxiety, I try to take them with us, or I stay home and make a weekend to stay in.
