Biggest Animal Lover!

Pet care experience

I am the one friends and family come to whenever they want their animals cared for and to make sure their pets feel right at home. Our pets are family! They have the run of the house and our big fenced in backyard. I have been the biggest animal lover since I was a little girl. I would bring home any animal I came across that looked lost or in need. Sometimes it was a bird that flew into a window or a hungry stray cat, sometimes it was a neighbors cat or dog . . . I was young ; ) You can trust that I will following specific guidelines you give me for your unique pup. Feel good knowing that your dog(s) will have the very best care and a lot of fun. I currently work part-time from home with a flexible schedule. I am available all day for play, snuggles, treats, potty breaks, walks, hikes, and doggy park visits. I will do my very best to work around your plans and schedules. I work towards providing the perfect combination of exercise, stimulation, cuddling, and nap time. I always customize our activities to the capabilities of your dog(s)! My number one priority is your beloved pup and keeping your mind at ease when you are apart. I love sharing pictures and keeping the communication flowing. I have a fully fenced in backyard with an almost year-round small dog pond and plenty of room to play. I live at the end of a quiet, dead end road with great neighbors. I have a young dog-friendly dog Roary and a dog-tolerant cat Pippy (she loves our dog and gets used to other dogs quickly but may hide at first). Our yard and home is open to all doggy visitors to explore and relax. We allow our animals on our couches and our bed. I will adhere to your specific requests to avoid creating any habits that you don't allow in your home. We also have dog beds in almost every room. We have a large hammock style dog bed and a large dog crate in our bedroom. Roary usually chooses the hammock. Our dog is a friendly great pyrenees mix who will greet you with loud barks, wags, and a growly hello (it's a great pyrenees thing). He loves dogs!!! New people make him a little nervous so he may avoid petting when it's offered until he gets to know you (it's a rescue dog thing). Roary loves to play outside especially when he has visitors. He loves to share his toys and play come and get it. He also gets lazy and lounges on the couch near me while I'm working at my computer. We have 3 humans at our house ~ myself, my teenage daughter Hannah and my husband Ron, all are animal lovers! Your dogs(s) will be part of our family while they are here.

my dog isn't the warmest dog out there and Amy did a great job calming her down and spending time with her, even after getting snipped at!!

Information Amy A. would like to know about your pet

Is there anything extra I can do to help your pup ease into his/her visit with us? Would you like to arrange a meeting for a walk and greet? Does your dog(s) have any special needs or behavioral traits that I can prepare for ahead of our visit? Are there any situations I can avoid that may make him/her feel comfortable? Likes or dislikes? Is your dog up-to-date with shots and other wellness vet visits? Rabies, kennel cough, and monthly flea & tick vaccine (oral, topical, or collar) For puppies sake - DHPP vaccine (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus). Is your dog(s) aggressive towards other pets, people, children? I will always have other dogs here, my cat, and occasionally my 6 year old niece visits. Does your dog have some basic training? Boarding: I request one overnight trial run for dogs who have never boarded with me. This allows us to introduce pets to each other, see how the dogs play, eat, and sleep together. It's best to be sure everyone is happy and comfortable before committing to a several day stay. Dog Sitting: I highly recommend a meet and greet prior to all day stays. We love puppies so much! For now I am only taking puppies for daytime doggy-sitting. Please let me know where your pup is with potty training so I can continue a similar training plan while they are staying here.

A typical day

We will take walks in our neighborhood and rides to a park 5 minutes away for longer walks and visits with other pups. We will hike together on trails in our town and surrounding towns to explore and get our toes wet in the streams, ponds and lakes. Roary and I love to play games with our guests in the backyard ~ he's more likely to chase and play keep away than actually fetch a toy or ball :) Roary is a huge fan of splashing and finding toys in our shallow cement pond. He also loves to show off his trampoline skills (only when supervised). We are forever filling in holes because he's looking for treasure with his friends!
