I was Amira’s neighbor for 12 years. She moved in next door to me when she was about 8 or 9. She had a tabby cat (Mika) and two dogs one chihuahua fox terrier (Bandit) and a pit bull Rottweiler (Rukus) and boy did he live up to his name! He got little bandit all riled up throughout the day when Amira was at school and that cat would come into my yard and hide in my tree, but, when Amira came home of course the animals were excited but they all focused on her the cat would jump down and go charging for the fence and run right up to her and brush up against her, big rukus who was at the time about 75 lbs would run up and sit right infront of her wagging his tail patiently waiting for a hug and little bandit would run in circles around her and bark happily. She had a way with animals that just came naturally they listened to her and respected her because she loved them and they loved her back. Now as she got older so did rukus and he was the first pet to pass on she was devastated and shortly after that so did Mika they were already quite old when she rescued them from the humane society and with only little bandit left which she had raised from a puppy it wasn’t long before new pets had arrived. Another tabby (kitkat) and two puppies this time they were brother and sister she had taken them from a couple at church who had a liter of puppies and couldn’t take care of them. She took the last two Dobermans (simba) and (nala). This went on for many years and at one point she had 5 dogs and 3 cats! I asked her parents one day how they could keep all those animals? Her mother simply replied “it’s like she can speak to them and they understand her, I’ve never seen so many different animals co exist like this but somehow they do. It’s because she loves them so much and takes special care of each one individually they make her so happy and she keeps up with the chores so how could we say no”. Today I still live in the same house however Amira is all grown up and she lives with her boyfriend in Waikiki. I have a little “Doggo” as she likes to call them and he’s my little buddy I take him everywhere but I’m quite old and it’s hard for me to give him a bath, take him for walks, clean up after him etc... so Amira stops by twice a week and every Sunday just to make sure my little doggo is well taken care of and she also helps me too. She’s a darling girl. So very kind, with a very special almost “6th sense” when it comes to pets she’s truly one of a kind and anyone would be lucky to have her in there life, especially there pets!
