Flexible, reliable dog lover!

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Amelia from Baltimore City! I've had cats and dogs my whole life, and, as my pup Bee can attest, I'm never happier than with a dog by my side. Having grown up caring for my own cats and dogs, and having cared for neighbor's animals, I'm very well versed in animal's patterns of behavior. Add that to me missing my own pets so much that I took care of neighbor's, professor's, and friend's pets professionally all through college, and I've developed a really well-rounded understanding of inter-pet situations, how to handle hyper/active or quiet/skittish animals, and how to get your best friend to feel more comfortable with me! I'm also excited to work with you on reinforcing those all-important commands you've been teaching your pup - consistency is key to a happy and well-behaved lifestyle, and I would love to be a part of that. I'm more than happy to come to you, particularly during those awkward chunks of time early in the morning or late at night, when you just can't make it home, or you're sure your pup is a little lonely! I often have chunks of availability that aren't on my calendar - feel free to reach out if you're having trouble working within my schedule, as I'm here to help you out!! Additionally, while I'm not officially offering doggy boarding or daycare, if you're curious if I can make something work, please don't hesitate to message me, I would love to move some things around to make this easier for you and your best friend. My partner, who lives with me, Elijah, is equally as flexible as I am (as well as equally in love with all things doggos), and we are happy to work together to find something that suits your needs, even if that means occasionally making our front room a dogs-allowed zone to house your little guy! I have a some experience dealing with senior pets and pets with special needs, ranging from oral and injected medications to pups who just need a little time to get going. While I'm not officially certified in dog first-aid, nor am I affiliated with any organizations, I am fairly comfortable with basic dog first aid, and am happy to become certified on an as-needed basis. And if you're worried about your smaller furry or feathered friends, fret no more! I've got lots of experience with hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, snakes, lizards/dragons, turtles, fish, big birds, small birds, and even bees (they aren't nearly as cuddly as your pooch, but I make do!) However, as I prefer to meet your pet before coming to visit, if I don't feel comfortable or capable of watching your pet, I will let you know. I am comfortable in my capabilities and skills, but won't pretend to have abilities beyond what I have! My goal is the safety of your pets, first and foremost!! I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and adding your pets to my ever-growing list of new best friends!

Amelia is an extremely kind and attentive person. She loves animals and has had furry, scaled, slimy, and feathered pets in the past! She's currently the affectionate mom to pit bull Bee and is hoping to adopt some other furry friends soon. She has over a decade of experience caring for others' pets -- when she was younger, she started her own neighborhood dog walking business and had a wide range of people contact her to pet-sit. Amelia is also extremely flexible, happy to care for animals long or short term! She has been such a great dog sitter and walker and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone :)

Amelia is a great, caring dog walker -- she's been walking dogs in our neighborhood since she was in middle school! She's respectful of owners' instructions, and she's very trust-worthy. Amelia is personable, punctual, and really loves dogs. I'd highly recommend her.

Amelia is definitely one of the most caring and responsible people I know, especially when it comes to dogs (and all pets)! She really makes sure the pet is happy and gets everything they need, as well as some extra lovins'.

Information Amelia V. would like to know about your pet

I would love to know a little bit more about your pet's preferences and hard stops. Do they prefer sidewalk or grass/park walks? Do they mind walking in the rain, or do they have a favorite hoodie/raincoat? Are they people- or dog-reactive, or do they just love chasing after squirrels? Does your cat hate belly-rubs, or like to lie and say they haven't eaten yet? Do they have any medications, or other special needs? Are they anxious in thunderstorms or in high wind - do you have a solution for that? While I absolutely don't have breed preferences, if I feel as though your pet is not a right fit for me, I will let you know. I am fairly comfortable handling dog-reactive dogs, but some more aggressive dogs are beyond my skillset, and if I don't feel as though I can keep up with/keep them under control, I'll let you know! Similarly, if your dog isn't fixed, and I don't feel like I can maintain control over the situation and keep your pet, myself, and others, safe, we'll work it out from there! My goal is to make this as enjoyable and safe for your best friend as it is for me to hang out with them, so please let me know what I can do to make that happen!

A typical day

I have a park nearby my apartment that is super dog friendly, and many a city block to wander around if they're more a city pup than a country pup! My partner and myself love playing with dogs (our own is pretty high-energy!) and would love to bring that same energy to your pets! Wherever your pup prefers to walk around your own home is where we'll be, and I'd love to try and find something that'll get your dog all happy and excited.
