the peaceful pack
Pet care experience
Me, my new human addition to the pack, baby Syracuse, and of course the pack leader, my dog Hyori, have recently moved from upstate NY and looking to continue the best job in the world (watching dogs for a living) down here in New Orleans. Why I love dog sitting: I've had dogs all my life and have owned and cared independently for my own dogs for at least 25 years. I have one dog now, but have had two dogs together for over 10 years. I am very comfortable caring for multiple dogs in one home. Friends that have had me watch their dogs and see me work with my own dogs are always amazed how well I communicate with them, and them with me. So, that makes me tend to think that I can perceive what a dog is needing and help it be happy. ;-) Meet my pets: I have a very personable calico cat. She is very friendly with the pups, even quite playful. I'd go as far to say she is the actual leader of my peaceful pack. ;-) I recently moved to New Orleans and into my own home. I do have a tiny yard, and will hang out in the yard with the pups, weather permitting. However, we spend most of our time outside taking walks. I have an open plan for my living room, and that provides a lot of space for pups to play and socialize in the air conditioning during hot summer days and nights. I do have an infant, born April 2022, who is very easy going and loves lots of walks, too. I feel that while giving attention to my infant, who has a fairly established daily routine and sleeps through the night, I can also give much love and attention to your pup. I feel that my own relationship with my own pup has not skipped a beat with the new addition to our family. My experience administering medication: Yes, I am comfortable giving both pills and injections. I have lots of experience with elderly dogs. My last pup, Ramona, was 16.5 years old when we finally had to say goodbye. Also, prices can be adjusted for extended stays ($38/night), and multiple dog families ($28/night for the each additional dog), plus additional discounts for weekly stays.
Reviews
Amber was a great sitter and sent us lots of updates with photos!
Amber is amazing. Our pup ran right up to her house, and nuzzled with her immediately. Will definitely use her again!
Amber was kind, thoughtful, and very attentive to our very active puppy.
The best!

I will treat your dog with love and kindness and yet be careful to continue good training behaviors. I work from home, so will give your pup lots of personalized attention and love. Many friends have told me countless times that I should start a dog training business, remarking on how comfortable, calm and happy their dogs have been while in my care. My own dog is pretty smart in dealing with a variety of temperaments. She is calm and quiet; yet also playful for those guest pups needing an energy release. I have small, medium and large dog crates available, if you feel your pup needs to be crated for any reason or to feel safe. Otherwise, they will be free to roam in my home during their entire stay, as does my own. ;-) I keep my home clean and free of toxic chemicals and scents. I use chemical-free cleaning products to ensure your pup a safe and healthy stay.

Information Amber R. would like to know about your pet
My main concern is knowing if the dog is friendly with people, children and with all other types dogs, since we meet many other dogs in the neighborhood on our walks, and have play time with some of them as I hang out with my neighbors. I'd like to know that if any particular dog has fear or aggression issues, what tricks the owner uses to keep the dog feeling safe and loved. I do not have any breed preferences as long as they will get along well with all sizes of dogs and will not aggressively attack my kitty. I take the dogs that come to my house on LOTS of walks throughout the day. if your dog is a large dog and not very well leash trained, then my home is probably not a good fit for your dog.
A typical day
We will go on at least three walks a day for a minimum of 30 minutes each time....unless it is bad weather or super hot, then they'll be about a 10-15 minute walks. ;-) On our walks, we do come across at least a handful of other dogs out in the neighborhood as their owners are walking them. So letting me know how dog friendly your pup is is very important. I absolutely want your dog to feel safe and happy while under my care. Your dog's sleeping arrangement: In my room on dog beds or in their crate in my room if that is what they are used to. Time I'll spend with your dog: I work from home, so can give your pup all the attention it needs! We take multiple walks throughout the day and spend time at neighbors' homes with their dogs. Your dog will have lots of chances to socialize and play with other dogs. If it needs less interaction with other people and dogs, I can also accommodate that.
