15yrs. pet care; 6yrs.dog training

Pet care experience

I have been dog sitting for 15 years and training dogs since 2018. During college, I dog sat pretty much full time. One job was 40 nights! After graduating, (Bachelor’s in Exercise Science) I began volunteering at a shelter, transporting rescue dogs, and my favorite- fostering dogs. Since 2018, I have had 11 foster dogs. I sought a career in dog training because I wanted to help dogs become more compatible for adoption and wanted to help people have better behaved companions. I have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, temperaments, behavioral problems, etc. I believe in bringing out the best in dogs, creating a mutual respect between dogs and handler, and showing owners how to be leaders for their dogs. Dogs thrive off of living a balanced, structured life. Making sure your pet is safe is my top priority! Additional info: I have cared for chickens, lizards, birds, cats, senior dogs, dogs that require medicine, a crate & rotate situation due to dogs that didn’t get along, dogs that weren’t so able-bodied, we boarded a friend’s cat at our home for 2 months, and I’ve helped out friends and family with their horses and cattle. **if you have a cat, in addition to a dog, my cat rate is much less than what it appears on my profile. I can modify the prices as needed** **Partial day rate may apply and may be added on to the total price, based upon your needs for the day that I would be leaving.** This would be discussed before booking. **Walks and drop-ins that are more than 3 miles** from my house will have an additional fee added to the total price that is listed on my profile** . We can discuss pricing. **Dog sitting jobs that are further than my service range are accepted, but will have a travel fee added on for each day.** More info below.

Amber was awesome with our pups! She was respectful to our home where she stayed, she sent lots of updates of the pups while we were gone. She was on time with everything, and let our anxious dog warm up to her on her own time. Very patient!!

Ever been in a scenario where you needed a life saver? Look no further, Amber does just that! On an extremely short notice of flying out of town, Amber was able to accommodate house sitting (over a holiday period) and take care of our puppy dog! She’s extremely well mannered, friendly and experienced with training! She met all our needs of following our puppies eating schedule, giving our pup plenty of attention and was timely with arrival and departure. She even provides excellent photos and videos during her sitting of our puppy and performs some trainings so it’s like a 2 for 1! We’re extremely lucky to have found her. She came to the house the day before to introduce herself to the puppy and that worked out well. She even gave us advice on how to improve our puppies well being and acclamation (to other sounds/people) after her visit. Amber is excellent! We’ll definitely keep her name at the top of our list ?.

Safety, trust & environment

I can take dogs that are behavioral cases (extremely fearful, reactive, aggressive), but there will be an additional charge for this. If your dog’s behavior is not disclosed before the job starts, I reserve the right to cancel the job. **Dogs must be house broken to pee outside, unless it’s a young puppy in training.** For over night dog sitting: I will try to be at your house as much as possible, but I will *not* be able to be at your house all day long, each day. I will likely have other clients and other responsibilities throughout the day. We can discuss and see if it’s a right fit for your dog. Dogs must be okay with being alone for several hours at a time. I do *not* include walks for over night dog sitting, so if you want a walk OR if you live in an apartment where walking is necessary, this must be expressed before booking because it’s an extra fee.

Information Amber C. would like to know about your pet

As a safety precaution and because I am a fairly light sleeper,* *I do not allow dogs to sleep in the bed with me and typically not in the same room as me**

A typical day

I typically have a little different approach with dogs than most would; it’s due to my years of dog sitting experience, intertwined with my training experience. One of the most rewarding things is building a bond with a dog through structure, personal boundaries, and whatever motivates the dog. I enjoy helping fearful dogs build their confidence. I have fostered and taken care of a few fearful dogs.
