Pet care experience

sniff sniff sniff. Just gotta check my p-mail. oh, hey there! My name is Amber-I'm a personal chef with my own business helping folks with specific dietary needs. Ever since starting my business, I've wanted to also slow down and spend more time doing things that feel good and connect within my community. After a decade of managing high volume restaurants, it was time for me to use my thoughtful attention to detail on something that felt nourishing. For me, that's been spending time with pets and helping them while their busy mamas are away. I've been sitting for neighbors and members of my community and take it really seriously! I've had so much fun with this, and really enjoy the powerful communication that our pets offer. It also feels really fantastic to have this trust and connection within my neighbors & extended community. I truly take your respect and your family seriously and appreciate you sharing this space with me. I'll always ask permission before doing things like having folks in your home with me, using appliances that weren't discussed during the meet and greet, meeting other animals without your presence. * I want to note that my first two months on Rover I loved every pet that I was lucky enough to sit. the fee's take quite a bit, and I take this very seriously. I haven't had a single parent come home and not be over the moon happy with how I took care of their babes. Nearly every person I've sat for has resulted in a repeat booking. With that being said--I know my rates are higher. But (with your permission) I'm taking these babes to the gorge, I'm cleaning and looking through their poop when it's questionable. I'm giving you suggestions on play time activities that would work better. I'm working on training situations. After our first visit I'm happy to discuss booking separately. But! the rates you see are because you will fully enjoy every moment of your time away from home, knowing that the safety of your pets and the level of respect in your home are premium as heck.

Amber was amazing with not only their attentiveness to my pup but also with their communication while I was out of town, I felt so comfortable and confident knowing Nico was taken care of-the best feeling when you leave town!

Amber is so good with our two cats and especially patient with our older fussy kitty. We always feel safe and worry-free when she’s there! Thank you, Amber!

Amber was great to work with! Our 5month old puppy was well loved and it was so nice that he could stay in a familiar environment at home (and not boarding). Amber communicated with us throughout our time away. We would use Amber again.

I live alone with no pets or children so I'm a pretty ideal candidate for house/pet sitting during trips. I'd prefer to stay at the pups house that I'm sitting, simply for their comfort. My studio is a great size for one person, but can often feel confining to new friends. I have been trusted by many families to keep their homes clean, safe & pups engaged. One of my favorite things to hear when humans come home is "they weren't even excited to see me! I can tell that you really spent time here with them." I really take this time seriously and respect your space and rules. I will always message before using things that weren't discussed or if there are issues. I send detailed "end of day" daily updates on what your pet and I were up to, and what my concerns/praises were.

What their anxieties are. What things normally trigger them to feeling unsafe. what things bring them comfort. Do they get along with other dogs? **Pets tend to not eat on the first day that I'm with them. the anxiety of their parents being gone, they get stressed out. I often purchase the single servings of "NULO". I choose these packets because they are low in calories and don't add to the existing "kibble." the ingredients in this product are the reason that I buy it. depending on the flavor they're often "chicken and salmon broth". etc. I like to add this to their existing diet that you've expressed, and it creates a joy of having a stranger in the home. after all, they're on vacation too. Are there specific treats you’d prefer me to train with? I make my own! allergies? If I do something like go to Starbucks, are they allowed to have a pup cup? are they allowed to sleep/hang on furniture? How much engagement would you prefer while you're away? I've had folks who feel "no news is good news", while others really want to see every picture of everything we've seen. I'm happy to do either! You're trusting me with a fluffy angel! I want this to feel good to you. Can I help water plants or take in the mail/take out the trash bins while I'm there? Are there neighbors that you'd prefer I connect with so that they feel in the loop? Happy to do all of these. Vacation is already so stressful. Leaving your pets shouldn't be.

A typical day

I enjoy keeping pets active & being outside in our gorgeous PNW! During the hot summer days, I love taking the pups to the river, or drives to the gorge to keep cool. I love working with big dogs on seeing friends like chickens, kittens & squirrels and helping them not be overwhelmed or distracted. I live right by Normandale dog park but prefer to avoid it unless owners specifically tell me that they do well at and prefer the parks. Even dogs that I have a fantastic connection with, unless there is a strong trust factor built after multiple visits, I just don't see the purpose of putting ourselves at that risk. Honestly even when walking a dog, even if they're doing well with meeting others, if I see another dog coming, I'll just say "let's cross" and avoid the interaction in general. Your pup is already having a stranger in their home. that's high anxiety usually. there's no reason to add other factors into how they're feeling.

During the week I am flexible as I cook for clients with my business & can always work around those times. When boarding or sitting, I will take 2-4 hour windows where I'm cooking or delivering meals with clients. I also take this time to get myself food, connect with my partner, and often shower at my own home.
