Joyous Flex Vet-Tech 🏞🦮Treelined

Pet care experience

I have a lot of experience with all kinds of dogs and have taken care of dogs since I was 10. I have 20 years of pet care experience and sincerely love dogs. From a young age knew a lot about caring for the needs of dogs. I have experience with dogs that are in need of extra attention or general care. I am Native NYer with a dependable track record and come well-recommended within the dog walking community. My schedule is reliable, and I remain flexible but punctual. I am enthusiastic and energetic, youthfully athletic, intellectually sound, Pratt Institue BFA graduate of 2020 BFA & five-star dog sitter whose accommodating to the unique needs of your pet. I grew up in a veterinarian household in Denmark, while raised equally between Harlem, Brooklyn and Denmark. I have 5 years of Vet Tech training I received from my aunt, a rabbit specialist and veterinarian. She would bring me with her on site because since I was a little girl I’ve always been drawn to the sentient nature of animals and the wisdom they possess, and that was clear in how naturally I engaged with all bug and animals around me. Working with her as a child ignited my interest in the health and care of all animals. I gladly assisted with cleaning her client’s dog’s teeth. I found teeth cleaning enjoyable, the sense of precision. Like the specific way of cleaning a horses hoves, there are correct ways to clean teeth and inject needles. Training in the same vets office where the entirety of Copenhagen’s Zoo receive their treatment from, was an excellent experience. During COVID, after I graduated from Pratt Institue I thought that my career in art had come to a close, and that art could never be profitable again in this pandemic market where Tech and Medical skills seemed to reign supreme. This was surmounted mostly from what I was absorbing from the messages media sold me, of this priority of adaptation that covid imposed onto us all. This forced adaptive, combined with the reshuffling and resorting of our prioritizes as people, who together were trying to survive an invisible sickness while living in a dying planet. I began questioning my essentiality within a workforce that had no interest in my art degree. During this time I had the privilege of fostering a rescue 11 year old feisty fireball of a Chihuahua who brought life into my days for 8 months. He was not bathroom trained and at his old age, refused to go to the bathroom outside so I was forced to maintain his past use of weewee pads. Luckily, at the time for these 8 months I lived in a spacious Williamsburg loft apartment with spare rooms and a tracks worth of indoor running space, and hardwood floors that I was not concerned with issues of clean up, I was both attentive to his routine selected locations for urination, and partially because of the amount of thick protective layering on the hardwood floors. Recently I’ve predominately dog walked and animal sat pets locally for neighbors and Bedstuy clients in need of services while they have returned back to work in person, and I help them navigate this transition, or another common sitting need is for clients whose work requires them to frequently travel. In those cases I have been dog sitting small, medium, and large dogs within my lush-green Bedstuy apartment and tree-lined block, because my neighborhood is filled with dog owners- which increased to an observable amount of pooches per block. This year I have helped train medium and larger dogs during routine walks where the dog needs to learn to not pull their leash. I live in a brownstone with a backyard and front yard and use those for night time bathroom breaks, or walk two blocks to Saratoga Park bustling dog run. I’m not afraid of any bug or animal, and feel most myself in nature. All animals and children seem to flock to me because I have a warm, safe and giving energy. I am dependable sitter you can trust to follow your unique animal’s needs. I have experience with dogs that are in need of extra attention, anxious pets who suffer from anxiety, diabetic cats/dogs who need to receive insulin within a timed schedule, maintaining oral medication routines for pet medications like generalized antibiotics, grooming for cats/dogs, experienced end of life caregiver to elder dogs nursing ailments from aging, as well as general care experience for dogs of all health. I am accommodating to all dietary and health needs of your pet. I live in a 1brd brownstone apartment, alone in the heart of Bedstuy. I offer dog/cat sitting for overnight stays, day boarding, dog walks, pick ups and drop offs, grooming, routine medication management for pets, eye booger cleaning. They should expect lots of cuddles, kisses and attention. I am a friendly neighbor on my block, and a regular at local parks like Herbert Von King, Prospect Park, and Saratoga Park. On an ideal off day while walking a dog I could imagine my route would be picking up that dog, walking them to Saratoga Park, then having them join me for a brownstone stroll to pick up bread from Saranghina Bakery. I am punctual, extremely enthusiastic about meeting new dogs and cats, young, energetic, and the sitter you need.

Amara is a great dog sitter! She manages not to let our dog blackmail her and to make him happy at the same time. She's good at following the rules: takes him out at right times, gives him his allowed amount of food and treats, and never lets him go into rooms he's not allowed to go in. We have a small dog (a maltipoo) who can be very aggressive towards bigger dogs, which is very worrisome as we live in an area where pitbulls are walked on the streets at all times; Amara manages to control our dog and avoid his getting the attention of big dogs. Most of all, our dog loves her, it's very touching to see his pulling on his leash towards her! Whenever we go away, we ask Amara to stay in our apartment because our dog has the habit of sleeping right next to our bed. We always come back to a clean home and a happy doggie -- these are the other reasons I think Amara is a great dog sitter!

I often dog sit while my clients are traveling for work. I had fostered a chihuahua for 8 months over covid, which was a wonderful experience to live with such a small feisty fireball of a dog. I have a fenced in front yard and backyard garden in my brownstone. I often allow any dogs I'm sitting to join me in the mornings while I’m tending to the front garden. While in my home smaller dogs are okay on furniture, and to prevent a larger hassle of cleaning I try to ask medium and larger dogs to remain off furniture. I have a few dog bed options I routinely use when caring for dogs, and have access to in unit washer/dryer, and a deluxe shower grooming experience. I often take dogs to the local dog park that’s two blocks away from me, after taking a 15 minute stroll to get bread from the local bakery Saranghina Bakery. After this I’d walk your doggy to Saratoga Park or Herbert Von King Park and allow them to socialize and exercise which is essential for their quality of life. Recently I’ve predominately dog walked and animal sat pets locally for neighbors and Bedstuy clients in need of services while they have returned back to work in person, and I help them navigate this transition, or another common sitting need is for clients whose work requires them to frequently travel. He has had four homes before me that were inconsistent, so his age is estimated!

Information Amara K. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know if the dog has any medical needs I need to be aware of. I'd like to know if the dog has irregular bathroom/walking problems, or just is the kind of dog to pick fights. I'd like to know what to be aware of, what it's favorite toy is, when to give it a treat, if it has anxiety issues, and its favorite places to be walked.

A typical day

I'll take the dog I'm sitting on the suggested route it goes on daily, as well as spruce up the walk by taking a trip to any local park it can run around in freely, toss a ball, go for a stroll, go to a local dog playground! I love walking to Saraghina Bakery in Bedstuy because there’s always a lot of friendly dogs there in the morning. I love taking long strolls on the walking path in Saratoga Park, which is extremely local to my apartment. I will gladly take all dogs with me to expand their horizon and visit new places with their owners permission. I’m currently working remotely as a full time artist, so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I am available for boarding on weekdays and weekend, and your dogs is welcome to join my Bedstuy palace to receive the special treatment of lots of attention from me! As an artist, I have a flexible schedule because I prominently work from home. I have a small albino caged rabbit named Ivy Lavender, who is curious, friendly and adaptable with all animals. He has been in my care for over 7 years and is estimated to be just under 30 y/o. For the past year and a half have been working remotely from home as a research analyst at a tech start up, which gave me a lot more flexibility in how I spent the hours of my day. Since the company closing in April, I have been freelancing as a production assistant on film and photography commercial production sets. PA work is based on word of mouth and recommendations only, so retaining and getting gigs are few and far between within this industry. As an artist with a huge amount of student debt, a brooklyn born NY native living alone in a brownstone in Bedstuy as rent continues to increase,—— I view animal care as a means of utilizing my soul so that I can continue to afford to do what I love which is making art and living with my basics taken care of.
