Retired dog care professional!

Pet care experience

I'm an active 42-year-old with three dogs of my own. I have worked professionally in animal husbandry for over 20 years, starting in college at UW-Madison. I earned my CPDT (Certified Pet Dog Trainer) license in 2003, training group obedience classes for 15 years before transitioning to in home behavioral consults and running a dog daycare for 12 years. "Quirky" pets are my specialty! I am happy to exercise, cuddle, medicate...whatever your pet needs while you are away!

For as long as I’ve known Amanda, she has had a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. The care and kindness that she shows each and every animal she encounters is admirable. She is especially amazing with dogs, and has had multiple years of experience with dogs, both professionally and personally. I have seen her care firsthand, and dogs respond quickly to her compassionate approach and calm demeanor. Amanda is responsible and prompt and treats all animals with respect.

Amanda is second to NONE. She is professional - not only in the way she interacts with owners, but also in her training. I won’t do her knowledge service, but she has a college degree in dog behavior and she has experience working at and managing a dog daycare/boarding location...oh and was a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She loves capturing those candid and adorable pup moments that I miss, but luckily she sends them to ease my mind. Miss Amanda/Auntie is perhaps my dogs favorite person. Period. She just understands my girl, and my girl is always so excited to see her! One of my biggest fears about getting a dog was finding people to take care of her in my absence. There is NOBODY that I would trust with my girl more than Amanda. Do yourself a favor - stop looking, and trust that you have made the right choice.

You know what's best for your pets, and it will be my job to respect your wishes for their care! That said, I love long, fast paced walks for the younger ones just as much as a leisurely "sniff-walk" for the seniors (who have a special place in my heart). As your needs change, I can adjust. My goal is lofty: I want to make your furry family members happy that you're away, because that means they get to have fun with "Aunt Amanda"!

A typical day

I will let you set the pace for what kind of care your pets need. I love that all dogs are different, and each has unique needs and preferences. I have experience with young pups all the way to super seniors, and am willing to hit the pavement for a jog, or just hang out and cuddle on the couch!
