Senior & Geriatric Pet Specialist

Pet care experience

White face, golden heart. Older pets are the best medicine for whatever ails you. *I am not currently accepting new clients for boarding or daycare. Pleas DM me if you would like to be added to my wait list.* I have a special spot in my heart for senior and geriatric animals. Assisted pee-breaks, wheelchairs, foot dragging, incontinence, complex meds, paralysis...there is nothing stopping your old guy or gal from living a happy and full life in those fantastic golden years. I shared my life with a 15 year old Husky/Golden with advanced degenerative myelopathy, and only recently said goodbye to him. *Update: We just said goodbye to our sweet senior Great Dane as well. This is the hardest part about dogs, and their only true flaw is their short life spans. But the cost of admission is always worth the ride. If you need someone to talk to about pallative care and end-of-life celebrations for your own dog, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.* *2nd Update: I’m now a first time cat owner, and can’t believe what I was missing out on!* I have worked in shelters and clinics, and am a long time rescue volunteer. Most importantly, I am a lifetime-commitment kind of pet owner, and in it for the long haul, whatever that means in those fantastic later years. If you need someone who understands, I'm here to relieve some of the worry that you have, and to give you a happy break! If you do NOT have a geriatric pet, but are looking for the same ultra-attentive & specialized treatment for your best friend, please contact me to discuss your needs!

Amanda was wonderfully understanding with my 14 yr old completely blind dog who needs extra help and attention with everything (even normal stuff like eating, going potty and just feeling comfortable enough to settle down and sleep). It hasn’t been easy finding a sitter because he is a senior blind dog so I feel really lucky to have found her!! I really appreciated her communication, patience and obvious love for animals! I definitely plan to book with her again in the future and also recommend her as a sitter for any dog, as she was great with my special needs dog!! Thank you Amanda for being so awesome!! ???

Amanda was to attentive to our Molly. She sent me pics and made me feel very comfortable with leaving Molly to stay with her. Her home is inviting and her special attention she gives the dog is A+.

Amanda did the best she could but Riley, being blind and old, didn’t like being moved out of his home.

Information Amanda S. would like to know about your pet

I just want to know what you want. What do you need from me to feel okay with leaving your pet for a little while? Do you want lots of texts and photos? Do you want to enjoy the day and not have to worry (and not hear from us unless its an emergency?). I'm 100% confident I can read your ?‍⬛/?’s language, and cater to his/her wants and needs. Its you who we have to make sure feels happy and secure, because whatever energy you have when you walk back in the door is going to affect your furry friend. The happier and calmer you feel, the better the experience for your pet.

A typical day

Older animals have a very different idea of "fun". Sometimes that just means standing still in a swift breeze, taking in the neighborhood smells. I can't stress enough that whatever ritual you and your best pal have come to enjoy, I can recreate without hesitation.
