Full-Time Fluff Lover

Pet care experience

I grew up with multiple dogs and a cat from an early age. I even had turtles and fish and hamsters. As young as the age of 10 I was caring for our neighbor's cats, rabbits, and ducks when they were out of town. Even into my teenage years, I would volunteer to care for my friend's pets while they went away on vacation. In 2020, I adopted my Golden Retriever Mix and named her Heidi. She is now 3 years old and a brilliant, sassy, adaptable, and loving pup one could ever hope for. Recently, I spent a couple of months training with and working for a local dog daycare center. I spent a lot of time in playrooms with 20+ dogs. I’ve come across many breeds, personalities, and diverse needs while working with pups. I’m happy to work with any special needs or requests. I'm very familiar with canine first aid and can administer medications. While not a professional or certified groomer, I can bathe your pup for an extra cost and make sure their ears and teeth are clean as well. I’ve been pet-sitting with Rover since early 2023 and I have loved every minute of it. I’m definitely the baby talk animal lover, but I have successfully trained dogs in the past as well.

Amanda is so sweet and my Milo was very comfortable with her being here to check in on him! He is a rescue and a bit timid and has not been left with anyone but family and the time has come that we need an occasional sitter for him and he really took to her! She is very loving😘😘

We have kept our dog 4 times with Amanda and are very happy with her. Our dog enjoys being with her and her dog Heidi. Amanda is great- reliable, obviously super with dogs, communicative. Definitely recommend her.

Amanda was so great with our two cats! She was great (and a trooper!) with cleaning their litter boxes, refreshing their water bowls, and was so kind to also bring in our mail. She was always quick to respond to any requests or questions I had and was so good with our little ones. Having her come out to meet the cats beforehand was also very nice. I highly recommend Amanda if you need her to check in on your cat(s) while you're away.

If your pups are staying with me they will get to enjoy a fenced-in backyard where they are free to roam. I don’t usually take visiting dogs on walks since they usually get lots of playtime with my own pup and exercise in the backyard, but at your request (and weather permitting) there is a lovely park across the way that is great for sniffs and squirrel watching. My own pup, Heidi, is great at matching other dogs’ energy. If your pup wants to play, she’s all for it. If your pup wants to nap, she’s all about it. My house is kept clean with dog-friendly cleaners and air purifiers. Moreover, I have a steel crate (perfect for escape artist pups) that is regularly cleaned and can comfortably hold a large breed pup. I have an extra wire crate on hand in case it’s needed as well. You’re more than welcome to bring your own crate as well. I’m all for making your baby’s stay as comfortable as possible. Also, note that the crate is only used if necessary/requested for an appropriate amount of time. Dogs do not sleep in the crate unless requested. I do require meet and greets for new boarding bookings. I find that this gives everyone peace of mind that our pups get along and you can see where your baby will be staying. There are no hard feelings if you feel it’s not right for you or your pup! I'd also like to note that I will only be taking in pups from multiple households with permission from both parties. I will do my best to make a good call on if all of the pups will get along well. My main concern is maintaining a safe environment. In the case that you book me for a house-sitting, drop-in, or dog walk, I don’t require a meet and greet but am very happy to do so! I like to know where everything is and I’m sure it’s comforting to meet the stranger that will be caring for your baby! I do appreciate a message or note to lay out the basics of the visit (what’s expected, emergency vet information, and feeding/medication instructions). The more information I’m given the better but I will always ask if I need to know. I’m always okay with security cameras inside or outside the home, alarm systems, and regular check-ins. On walks, I tend to let your pup guide me, they know their routines best and I'm just there to clean up after them and keep them safe. In any case, I’m always going to let you know if anything concerning has happened with your pet (or home) while they’re under my care. I am all about full transparency and regular updates. I’m happy to address any concerns, ever, about anything. Nothing is too irrelevant when it comes to caring for your pet.

Information Amanda S. would like to know about your pet

1. Does your pet have any health concerns? 2. Do they take any medication? 3. Sensitivities to certain things like sounds, thunderstorms, people, touches, etc? 4. Allergies? 5. May they get treats? 6. If you have a very active dog, may I bring them to the dog park? A long walk around the neighborhood? 7. Emergency vet information? 8. Is your pet crated when left alone? If I am ever unsure about anything, I will be sure to ask.

A typical day

I keep healthy dog treats on hand to offer your pup and to see what tricks they know. I also love mentally stimulating games like hide and seek, find the treats, kongs, and puzzle toys. When it’s not too hot out we’ll play fetch in the yard or just run around like hooligans. Your babies are also welcome to hop up on the couch or my bed to rest whenever they’d like. I even have multiple dog beds to share and of course, you’re more than welcome to bring your own. I generally encourage 45 minutes of rest after meals to avoid any cases of GDV, also known as bloat. I’m also always cautious in hot months to make sure the pups get lots of water and AC time to avoid heat stroke.

Pet-sitting and dog-walking are my full-time job. I’m happy to be there when and where you need me. You’re always welcome to reach out to me, even at short notice, and as long as I’m not already booked I will be happy to help. If your pup is boarding with me I will either crate them (if requested or trained to) or at least separate them from my dog if I were to leave the house (just as a precaution). I will always be back in an appropriate amount of time to make sure they get potty breaks. However, I am home most of the time and it’s hardly an issue.
