Dogs Love Me

Pet care experience

I have had dogs my whole life (German Shepherds, a Golden Retriever, and 2 Beagles.) I am not afraid of large "intimidating" breeds or a lot of energy. I understand how important routines are to dogs and I promise to honor yours. I have paid a lot of attention to dogs throughout my entire life, and am very good at understanding their needs, I've even been called the Dog Whisperer on several occasions (and have seen almost every episode.) I understand how to deal with a variety of personalities, from high energy to playful to anxious to timid. I've been told I missed my calling to be a dog trainer, but who knows, maybe it's not too late. I've also had cats, fish, parakeets, and hamsters, so I have experience there as well. I'm a huge animal lover and I promise to treat your pet(s) as I would my own. I can offer a variety of services to help with your buddy - overnight stays, check-ins, regularly scheduled walks/feedings. I also have two of my own, a six-year-old American English Coonhound/Siberian Husky mix named Theo who is very sweet and submissive and a two-year-old Lab/Wolfhound mix named Jack who LOVES to play. They are dog-park regulars who love making new friends and are very welcoming hosts at home.

Our puppy Rey had a great staying with Amanda and Theo, she came home happy and tired. We'll definitely let our pup stay them again.

Amanda is amazing. i was in need of a dog sitter for 10 days while on vacation and didn't know where to turn. I reluctantly posted an add on Craigslist and for some reason out of all the responses, hers stood out the most to me. I asked Amanda to walk my dog 3 times a day and feed her twice, she went above and beyond that in so many ways. A couple days into my vacation she called to let me know Willow (my dog) was acting strange and had gotten sick. She offered to take her to the emergency vet to find out what was wrong. Many stressful conversations later it turned out Willow had gotten pneumonia. Amanda put my mind at ease and took care of Willow, taking her to and from the vets and giving her the necessary medications until I got back. I couldn't be more thankful for her effort and the care and communication she gave. Id hire her again in a heartbeat and would certainly recommend her to anyone in need.

I prefer to meet your dog(s) once or twice before I sit for them, so that I can get an idea about their personality. I'll also do a little reading about any breeds that I have not had much experience with. I will follow any routines the dog is used to, but if there is no fixed routine I will likely go with the schedule my dogs are on - two feedings, one around 8am and the other between 4-6pm, with potty breaks every 2-4 hours from 8am to midnight (unless the dog(s) in question cannot make it that long) then it's "bedtime" from midnight to 8am. I will honor all house rules. For households in which dogs are allowed on the furniture (in an effort to establish myself as the leader) most dogs who fancy themselves lapdogs will not be sharing my seat (exceptions will be made for actual lapdogs and those who are exceptionally well behaved and cuddly.) :-)
