Pet care experience
I've grown up with dogs in my home, sitting for personal family friends, as well as in an official paid positions. I started working with dogs in a professional setting in August 2018 as a dog walker for Austin Pets Alive for about a year on and off, and currently work at an off-leash dog park for a total of 3 years working with dogs in a professional setting. Working these two jobs has helped me to learn about different temperaments and the best ways to approach them, as well as given me the confidence in handling different breeds and behaviors. While most of my professional experience is with dogs, I also love cats and adore my own. In addition to dogs and cats, I have some experience in exotics including rabbits and chickens. I love learning about new animals and even expanding my existing knowledge on those I do know, so if you have a lizard, snake, fish, or other furry little creature well, I love a challenge. (Please note: if you have multiple dogs that need walks, I am flexible on pricing!)

Amanda is a gem! She took great care of my two cats even though they were being quite shy. She even took out the trash one day for us, and offered to put our comforter that a cat had thrown up on in the washing machine (and stop back by to put it in the dryer). 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

I pay special attention to behavior and making sure the pets have access to everything they may need/want. For my own animals that includes constant access to water and food, as they prefer to graze throughout the day, toys and chews. For clients' pets I will follow whatever guidelines have been set by them, wether that is to feed at a particular time or just keep the food bowl full, constant water, etc. I'm not afraid to ask for help or clarification, so if something with an animal seems off from what I typically have experienced I will ask the owner and am willing to learn. I understand not all cats or dogs are the same, and I trust the owner to know how their pet most likes to live their life, so when in doubt I always will contact the owner.

I would like to know how old the dog is, and the breed. Not because I have any preferences, but because I would like to be prepared for any varying activity levels the dog may need. I also like to know if the dog has any specific health conditions, medications to take, or petting sensitivities such as, for example, if they prefer I do not pet them on their stomach.
A typical day
We will go on walks around the neighborhood, where there are lots of trees for shade. I'll play fetch with them, play tug of war with them, or run with them. If they are more of a couch potato, I'll gladly give them pets and keep them company. I like to stay close to home when I am first getting acquainted with a dog, so if something out of the norm happens we can quickly and easily return to their safe space. However, when I have returned as a repeat walker for clients in the past, I've gotten permission to take their dogs to the dog park I work with. I will never take the dog somewhere without clear permission from the owner.

Availability
I currently work at least 5 days a week, with most shifts averaging at 5 hours each and occasionally longer when coverage is needed among our team. This usually works out where I work evenings on weekdays and bounce between day/evenings on weekends.
