Pet care experience
Current doctoral student in Clinical Child Psychology. I promise to treat your best friend as my very own. You will not find another individual as dedicated to providing love, support, care, exercise and fun. I believe a dog is a blessing. I have dog sat for a family (from February- July 2017) on sabitical for 6 months. During this time period, Midget (a 30lb rescue) was my number 1 companion. I bought her a life vest and took her out on our family boat. She was able to experience a ton of new things. We did everything together! I grew up with 2 Lab Retrievers, and my parents now have a black lab boarder collie mix, Sophia (who is my best friend HAHA), and have experience taking care of larger, as well as elderly dogs. The past three summers I have also done long term drop in dog care for 2 puppies. I've always been an athlete so taking longer walks or running with your buddy will not be a problem. I love hiking and I am happy to take your dog on hikes if you would like. Reference contact information available per request.
Reviews
As always another 5 star review for this gal! Thank you Amanda!
I left Georgia with Amanda for an entire week while I was out of the country and I could not have been more comfortable or at ease the whole time. Amanda sent updates and pictures every day, worked on Georgia’s training, and went out of her way to give Georgia more play time and comfort than she needed. There’s no one else I want to watch my dog now. Amanda is truly the greatest and Georgia thinks so too!
Amanda was amazing. This was my first time using Rover and she made everything so easy and comfortable. Amanda met with Georgia and I a couple days prior to boarding so we could talk about Georgia’s needs and let Georgia meet Amanda. Amanda asked so many questions about Georgia’s needs, activity levels, and her current training routines so she could work with Georgia while she was in her care. When I dropped Georgia off, Amanda invited me to see the space Georgia would be staying. She checked in with me throughout the stay, sending pictures and text updates as requested. This was such a great experience, I’d recommend Amanda to anyone who is a first-time Rover user and are unsure about what to expect.
Amanda accepted my request the night before my trip due to a sitter cancelation which literally salvaged my trip . She lives in a lovely neighborhood with plenty of places to take a walk or run. The entire time I was away Amanda kept me updated with messages as well as pictures! In a nut shell Amanda rocks I highly highly recommend her to watch after your fur baby! Thanks again Amanda!

Information Amanda F. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or requirements. Are their specific behaviors I should know about? How are they with other dogs if one approaches while on a walk? Are you working on any new skills that we can practice together? Does your dog have difficulty with separation anxiety? I’m a soon to be psychologist but cannot provide therapy ;) However, are there other things that help during those situations?
A typical day
We will have so much fun! Typically, and especially with new dogs, I’ll spend time making sure that your dog feels safe and has a chance to explore their new environment. Once comfortable, we will go for a walk to calm any nerves/jitters and to get some energy out. We will either walk in the paved neighborhood, walk a trail in the pine bush (right in my backyard), or (if you’re comfortable) can take a drive for longer hikes. Playing ball and other games is also part of our typical routine. I’m experienced in behavioral training and often will practice your dogs skills with reinforcement. Is your friend learning any new tricks or skills? Let me know and we can work on them :)

Availability
Given that I’m a graduate student, my schedule is relatively flexible but also not always consistent. Please get in touch with me so that we can figure out a plan that would work best. I will always ask how your dog is in the car in case I need to head to lab for an emergency because I can always take your furry friend with me. As always, if we have a booking scheduled, your dog is my first priority.
