I've been called a "dog whisperer"
Pet care experience
I've looked after animals of all sizes, from Scottish terriers and border collies to chocolate labs and Great Danes. I love them all. While working at Outside magazine, I used to take the office dog running on the trails around Santa Fe during my lunch break, just because we both loved it so much. I grew up with dogs (German shepherds, a Tibetan spaniel and a shitzhu-maltese mix) and I appreciate the special place they occupy in their owners' hearts. They can complete a family. I also think there's something to this idea: "I’m suspicious of people who don’t like dogs, but I trust a dog when it doesn’t like a person." A writer by trade, I'm an attentive and enthusiastic companion for your pup with a flexible schedule.

Amanda was wonderful. Took perfect care of Pablo on short notice. He's an excellent judge of character and loved her immediately.
Amanda did a great job with our critters and we felt very confident with her in charge of everything while we were out of state. She even was able to release a bird that had made its way down the chimney! Thank you Amanda! We appreciate you!!
Amanda was amazing and took such excellent care of our menagerie! The puppies loved all their hikes and the cats loved their snuggle time on the couch. So grateful!
Amanda is one of the kindest souls I know. Her generosity of spirit is seen most clearly in the loving way she interacts with animals. She is principled, reliable, and adventurous. She has helped me with my mischievous and cantankerous husky on many occasions. She is now one of my dog's favorite humans. Amanda is also an unrivaled lover of the outdoors, so if you're dog prefers off-leash adventures she's an excellent resource.
