Pet-loving bookworm and caretaker.

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Amanda and I studied at the University of Arizona in Biochemistry and Library Science. When it comes to caring for animals, going above and beyond in customer service is highly important to me in providing pet care services. I care about other people and familes’ fur-babies so much that I want to give them a vacation while you are on vacation. My special skills include not only taking care of exotic animals for 10+ years but also house-sitting with dogs in Tucson, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, and Washington D.C. prior to moving to the Boston area. I am very active and work out a lot, so I would make a great candidate to be your pet sitter for daily check-ins and overnight house sitting because staying personally fit is important self care for me so your pet will get their much needed exercise and/or other physical exercise needs met. I also have experience handling special needs dogs. I used to pet sit a dog that only had 3 legs for 2 and half years so I am attentive to any special direction you may request for your pet with disabilities/special needs if that is the case. Throughout my childhood, I grew up not only handling dogs and cats, but have experience handling exotic pets such as rabbits, mice, rats, guenia pigs, birds, and reptiles. For the past 6 years I lived with my adorable furbaby English Spot rabbit named Oreo. Thanks for reading and your consideration! Update 2023: I am fully vaccinated with my COVID-19 vaccinations & boosters. For home stays, I take cleaning up and leaving no trace of myself very seriously, and have added additional sanitizing routines. Currently, I have a day job that is on-site Monday-Friday. The days I am on-site for 8 hour work shifts. Please take that into consideration when considering me for potential bookings. Cheers!

Amanda took very good care of our two pups. I didn’t have to worry about them one bit.

Amanda consistently delivers a caliber of service and care for our dogs that people hope to receive when they are away from not only their dogs, but their home. We have had Amanda stay at our home many weeks and weekends while vacationing over the last 1+ years. She cares for our home out of the kindness of her heart, sends daily updates with photos and leaves as though she wasn’t there - except for the happiest dogs when we arrive back.

Amanda is a wonderful a sitter. Our cat Fennel is timid and takes some time to warm up to people. Amanda was gracious and patient with fennel and gave fennel lots of love. She is also extremely communicative and gave me detailed updates/photos/videos of fennel. We can’t be happier having amanda as our sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

For home stays, safety is of the utmost importantance, which involves maintaining self-awareness of your pets location and also overall health at all times. Additionally, I am attentive to the needs of your house and mindful to take care of grabbing the mail, cleaning up after myself, and more. An example of mindful needs I care about are ensuring pipes do not freeze in winter storms, making sure alarm systems are functioning consistently or even watering your house plants, just to name a few examples! For drop in visits, I also practice the same self-awareness but with more focus on playtime and emotional connection with your pet since the time booked is a shorter time increment.

Information Amanda C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know in advance if your pet has any special needs or comfort instructions to ensure the best care possible while you are away, such as any possible separation anxiety and what needs and/or soothing techniques you administer to your pet to make them most comfortable when you are away from them.

A typical day

During check-in visits, play time interaction is key not only for the care of the pets, but also building a strong bond and connection. I start with offering their meal, followed by playtime to get your pet accustomed to me. For home stays, your pets will receive the best care in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, as well as in between care.
