I have lived with a vet tech for 3 years now and have picked up on many thing. Personally she has 2 dogs <100lb and 8 cats I have learned how to give oral medication for both and pet sit for her any time she is away. I have no problem with mild grooming (baths and such.) I do not host overnights in my home but I am very flexible when it comes to over night stays with your animals, multiple daily check-ins and long walks so your animal feels as happy as they can while missing you. Its hard to be away from your animals when they are family. Energetically running around or just wanting to relax and be pet, I can handle it.
