Pet care experience
I am a student at LaGuardia, working towards my second degree (A.S. in Bio) and I have lots of free time! Couldn't think of a better way to spend it than with your dog and/or cat :) I have plenty of experience working with all sorts of dogs, from Cavachons to Huskies to anything beyond or in between. As a child, I was glued to Animal Planet; you could always catch me after school, at 4 PM, to tune into Emergency Vets (like any other 6 year old... right?) By the time I was 9, my parents finally got us a puppy, Molly. We had her for almost fourteen year and she was a wonder, my first furry best friend. She had arthritis for 13 years of her life, so I was always sure to keep a keen eye for her comfort while going for walks, and taking appropriate times to rest. I now have a dog of my own (a fulfilled dream!) who is an absolute sweetheart. Her name is Maizey and she is my sidekick in life. We adopted her from North Shore Animal League at four months old, so we've worked through (and are still working through!) a few behavioral issues. Patience is a virtue! There's also seriously nothing cuter than a dog/cat BFF duo. If you have a cat, rest assured, I have experience with those little toe-beaned cuties as well. My parents have two cats whom I've helped raise from itty bitty kittens to the grumpy fatties they are today. A former roommate of mine also had an elder cat who had diabetes - while unfortunate, I've learned how to administer medications, like insulin shots, to a cat.
Reviews
Alyssa watched my Husky since he was just a few months old and he always returned as happy as can be. Very caring and experienced.
Alyssa has been watching my dog, Bouly for years. She is great with Bouly and even keeps up with her picky appetite. Bouly loves spending time with Alyssa which makes it easier for us when we are away.

I have a dog of my own, so I know the in's and out's of caretaking, although I do understand that each furry friend has unique needs of their own and I will be well attuned and aware of your furry friend's cues for anything they might need or want.
Information Alyssa S. would like to know about your pet
It's important to know the temperament of the dog. Additionally, if there are any allergies/food restrictions that I should be aware of, and lastly if he/she is afraid of anything, like cars or men, so they can be avoided if we are out and about!
A typical day
I am fully equipped with a vehicle 99% of the time, so Maizey and I have been on a tour to all different dog parks around Brooklyn, Queens, and sometimes Long Island! Our main parks are Forest Park and Underbridge Dog Park. If dog parks are not their thing, I also love to cuddle on the couch, and play fetch; is there anything cuter than watching a dog enthusiastically chase a ball for the millionth time?!

Availability
Since I am a student with only two days of classes, I am available most mornings and afternoons. Classes are virtual for the remainder of the 2021 school year at my college. My flexible school schedule allows me go on long walks (~2 miles) and take extended trips to the dog park. You can normally find Maizey and I at the dog park for at least an hour but up to 3 hours if we're having a fun time! Sometimes I wonder who enjoys the dog park more, Maizey or myself! Seriously though, the park is cathartic to me, so I have no problem spending the time with your pup at any park they normally enjoy going to. NOTE: I typically do not take same day requests.
