Hi there! I am a third year veterinary student doctor who absolutely loves animals and would love to take care of your furbabies. Here is a little bit about me and my experience! Veterinary experience: -Veterinary assistant 4 years experience -third (almost 4th) year veterinary student doctor -I feel comfortable giving medications and injections Pet ownership: -Have owned hamsters since 6 years of age -Owned cats and dogs my entire life -Now I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, only one dog (Hank) is here with me in Blacksburg (my partner has the others) Pet sitting experience: -Drop in visits for neighbor dog in high school -Dog sitting for roommates -Cat sitting -Dog walking Animal experience: -Animal shelter dog walker and cat socializer 5 years experience I am comfortable with dogs of any size, cats of any size and temperament, as well as pocket pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits. I can even feed your fish for you :-)

Alyssa is incredible! She was extremely receptive to my cat’s different personalities and needs and did everything perfectly. She sent so many pictures and gave me detailed updates in the app each time she visited my kiddos. Never had a better petsitting experience!

I’ve had the great good fortune to have known Alyssa all her life. She has always exhibited a love for and understanding of critters large and small, and knew she wanted to be a vet at age 8. She does well in training and obedience. The fact that she’s soon to be a third-year vet student only adds to her credentials as a kind, caring, and capable pet sitter. She’s A number 1 in my book.
I worked with Alyssa when she was at the Frederick County Animal shelter. I watched her care for and clean up after many dogs and cats. Alyssa is an absolute animal lover, which you and your furry friend will be able to tell as soon as you meet her! She is currently pursuing a degree in veterinary science and has worked at a pet hospital for a few years, so she is able to help if your animal has specific health concerns as well while in her care. I would definitely recommend Alyssa as a responsible and attentive pet sitter!

I prefer to keep your pet on the same schedule and routine that they are used to! What I mean by this specifically is, if you feed your pet a specific way, let me know. I can do that. If your pet needs treats while they get their medicine, I can do that. If your pet needs to be walked immediately after eating or if they prefer to relax a bit before going out, I can do that. Let me know your pet’s needs and I will be flexible to them.

I prefer to cater to your pet’s daily schedule and routine so as to keep your pet calm and relaxed. So please make sure to outline with me your day to day and I will do my best to accommodate you and your pet! I would like to know: -Is your pet particular in any way? What I mean by this is - are they stressed out by anything that I can easily avoid doing? For instance, should I only come in the front door, back door, etc? -What kind of food your pet eats, how much, and how many times per day -How long you generally walk your dog -How long you generally play with your cat -Is your kitty indoor/outdoor, or do they stay inside? -Does your pet enjoy petting from strangers, or are they more independent? -Are your pets up to date on vaccinations? -Is your pet on any medications? If so, what medications, when, and how are they given? -What veterinarian do you take your pets to? -Does your pet have any favorite toys? -ANYTHING else that you can think of that is important for you and your baby.
A typical day
I love walking and so long as you are okay with it I will definitely do that with your pup! I will make sure they are well fed (of course) and taken care of. We will also play with some toys before I leave! And, maybe a treat... :-)

I am a veterinary student who mostly does class online so I am pretty free to come see your babies throughout the day! I do have labs some days and exams which are both in person during the mornings, generally.
