*Thee* Cat Lady of Rover😸💁🏻‍♀️ One of my top joys in life is animals! I love watching animals being their natural, beautiful, and simple selves. I truly enjoy and respect animals and am grateful for the opportunity to meet and care for your furry family member. I know that it can be stressful leaving your pets and having an unfamiliar person in your home. I want you to know that my goal as your sitter is not only to care for your pet but also to provide you with a sense of peace so that you can enjoy your time away without the worry of what's going on at home. It is important to me to always be honest, respectful, communicative, and thorough with my clients and I hope for the same in return. I work part time for the public library and am a part time student. As a sitter, I primarily book for cat drop-ins and have built up a handful of repeat clients which is really great as it allows me and the kitties to get to know each other and build a solid rapport. Aside from the felines I have had ongoing dog-walking and dog-sitting clients, and have house-sat in the past as well. I’ve also cared for humans (baby-sitting) but ultimately prefer working with books and animals🤷🏻‍♀️🤓 I am comfortable and have experience with all sizes and breeds of cats and dogs. My baby girl Bessie is a 5 year old, 80lbs American Bully and my baby boy Bartholomeow, my heart and soul, is a 13 year old Siamese.

I hired Alyssa for an upcoming 8-day vacation because of her great reviews as my typical cat drop-in visit caretaker was unavailable. I was initially impressed upon meeting Alyssa as she took plenty of notes and asked a lot of questions for the upcoming care of my cat Binx. Based on her demeanor and attention to detail I had no doubts as to her ability to care for my cat during my vacation. I informed Alyssa that I would set up (3) cat boxes with fresh litter. I also had a very large bowl of dry food and water set up. Alyssa agreed to give Binx canned food each day as well that I made available. The first day of the drop-in visit went well according to the Rover card information. However the next day, Alyssa indicated that there were a purported significant number of fleas in my apartment. The day after that, Alyssa indicated she was very upset with the purported flea situation and could I get someone else to come and do a drop-in visit with Binx. I was out of the country and in a totally different time zone. Needless to say, I was pretty upset as this situation happened early into my vacation and it was something I was not prepared to be concerned about. I suggested to Alyssa that she come on one last time to confirm that there was enough dry food and water available for Binx as I would be returning from my vacation in a few days. Fortunately, when I returned Binx was okay and happy to see me. I had strong doubts about the veracity of Alyssa’s contention that I have a flea problem in my home. My previous cat sitter never mentioned a similar issue and enjoyed her time in my apartment visiting with Binx. I wore white socks in my apartment as a means to see if indeed I have a flea infestation and to confirm Alyssa’s assertion that this caused her to not perform the scheduled, paid-for drop-in visits. I never encountered any fleas using this method of detection. I have been in all areas of my apartment where Alyssa would have performed her drop-in tasks with no detected fleas or bites on my feet. Further, I contacted Alyssa to provide a refund for the 4 days she did not do a drop-in visit. Rather than respect my refund request, Alyssa argued with me (through the messaging feature of the Rover app). We exchanged many DMs and the end result was she was only willing to provide me with a 30% refund for the missed days. This was unacceptable to me so I shared my observations with Rover support. They agreed to provide me a full refund for the 4 days Alyssa did not perform her drop-in visits. As a responsible person, it is my belief that a contractor should complete an assignment one has been reimbursed for and find a way to get the job or task done if there are problems. For whatever reason, Alyssa did not share this approach. A number of my pet-owning associates were appalled when I shared this situation and indicated that any number of ways this could have ameliorated to provide a satisfactory outcome to complete the scheduled in-home Binx visits.

Alyssa did a wonderful job taking care of my two young cats at short notice. She was very responsive and worked hard to cajole my timid cat out to eat (he's afraid of strangers) while also giving lots of love to my outgoing cat. She shared lots of hilarious and cute pictures of their time together on the app so I could see what was going on. I felt really comfortable leaving my babies in her capable hands, and appreciated her thorough attention to the details of their care. Was also grateful for her thorough cleanup of the litter that usually tracks all over the house. I highly recommend her!

Alyssa was amazing. Detailed & lots of reports with pictures. She kept my stressed out cat nice & calm. The other cats were also happy. I felt super confident that they would be well taken care of & they were. Next trip, I will be using Alyssa again!

Occasionally if an in-person meet up is not possible, I will video chat with the client so that I can be shown around the home and ask questions. I always have clients write out their specific instructions either here in the Rover app or on paper so that I can refer to the instructions during my check ins. During cat check ins, I’ll attempt to entice your cat to play and take care of any cat related duties you require. I am also happy to bring in mail/packages, take out trash and water plants as needed. Same thing goes for dog check ins. During dog walks, well we’ll get our steps in! So, if you find yourself in need of a responsible, thorough, and compassionate person to check in on your pet while you’re away, reach out and let me take that worry off your plate:)

For cats as well as dogs, my drop in visits start with greetings and asking them how their day has been! I tend to take care of the feeding and watering first, tend to the litter box if applicable, and then clean up any messes. Once all the business is taken care of, I will pet and pat and scratch and play. Of course if you’re booking me for dog walking, the routine is primarily focused on the walk and I will ask your guidance on which route you’d like me to take your pup on.
