Pet care experience
Since birth, I've been living with pets (dogs & cats) in my home and I have so much love for all kinds of animals! I have experience with not only my own pets, but I also spent a year volunteering at my local ASPCA animal shelter and assisting with walking, feeding, and loving on the dogs and cats there until they found their forever home. I previously worked as a veterinary receptionist for a year with VCA in Ohio, and as a veterinary receptionist at Wildwood Vet Clinic at South Waterfront, Portland for over a year. Through my work, I learned even more about animal health - so I'm definitely a cautious pet-owner and always keeping an eye out for how they're acting and feeling.

Alyson was so great! My pup loved her and she always gave very detailed end of visit summaries. She was punctual, communicated every step of the way, and updated me with photos from every walk! I couldn’t recommend her enough.

I believe every pet has it's own personality and I like to respond to that. I am attentive to their needs and pay attention to their behavior and what they're trying to say. Whether you have a more shy kinda kiddo who needs their time and space to be comfortable around me, or you have a super energetic and friendly buddy who will run up to me no problem. I want to treat them how I would treat my own pets, how you would treat them, and how they want to be treated - with patience, love, respect, kindness, and lots of belly-rubs and back scratches :)

Please make me aware of any special needs your pet has (diet restrictions, medications, mobility issues, etc.), certain rituals or training you do with them you want me to continue, any rules they have (no laying on the couch, no going upstairs, etc.) & if there are certain triggers or behaviors to look out for (they are scared of the vacuum, they don't like people with hats on, etc.)
A typical day
Depending on the dog or cat's energy level, I can absolutely play for hours, run around with them, toss their favorite toys or ball or just cuddle and give lots of pats if that's something they're more keen to :) like to go on nature walks whenever possible, in local parks or trails (so many scents there!).

Availability
I'm currently a full-time student at Portland State University and am employed as a Peer-to-Peer Undergraduate Mentor there but whenever my classes are lighter, I open up my schedule! Other than some occasional appointments- I'm usually more open on Friday and the weekends for services. This schedule also allows for me to do more petsitting for weekend trips you may have planned :) I own a car for easy transportation and try to keep on top of my calender for availability.
