Loving pet care is my passion.

Pet care experience

Please read my guidelines at the end of this bio before you contact me! Thank you. I have been around multiple dogs from the moment my parents took me home from the hospital. I started dog sitting and walking at ten years old and animal care is one of my greatest passions. I love building relationships with dogs and making sure they are happy, healthy, and well-loved. I have experience in pain free training and love all breeds and sizes! I have worked with dogs as small as 6lbs all the way up to a 1.5 year old 200lbs Newfoundland. I am strong, athletic, passionate, and my love for dogs outweighs everything. I also currently have two cats and have dedicated time to learning about proper cat care, enrichment, and boundaries Cat care jobs are some of my favorites as cats deserve as much love and care as their canine friends. I truly believe that dogs and cats are part of our families and deserve to be treated with respect, kindness, and lots of love. Please note that I live on the peninsula. My rates will include a transportation fee for travel if I feel that it is needed. Please contact me to discuss my rates further. Some ground rules: 1. I MUST meet you and your pet(s) before I provide services. I recommend reaching out to me at least a week in advance so that if it doesn't work out when I meet your pet, you can find someone else. I will make exceptions for cats and dogs under 40lbs. 2. If your dog is over 40lbs, they must be well trained. This is for the safety of your pet and myself. Well trained means knowing basic commands such as sit and down as well as not pulling on the leash. Absolutely no issues with nipping or biting are acceptable in any size dog. If your dog is under eight months and is fully vaccinated, I will make exceptions. If your dog is large and highly reactive, I need to know in advance. I would prefer that all of the dogs I am responsible for are well trained, but my main concern is large dogs who are stronger than I am. 3. I am allergic to mold. I'm ok if I'm doing a 30 minute drop in or just coming into your home to take your pet for a walk, but I cannot do extended stays in a place where there is visible mold. 4. I do not board! I have a cat who is not comfortable with other animals and my rented home does not allow dogs. The housesitting option is for me to stay in your home and care for your pet. 5. I am not currently taking house sitting positions unless you are located in San Mateo, the stay is three nights or less, and there is at least three weeks advance notice. I have the right to refuse service after meeting with you and your pet in person. 6. I have the right to refuse service for any reason, although I do generally give a reason as to why I am not available. 7. Please provide written instructions to me either physically or through Rover. This is so that I have a reference to refer back to while I'm caring for your pet and I will not make any mistakes. This also protects all parties in case of conflict. 8. Please make me aware of any illnesses your pet may be experiencing so I can take extra precaution to avoid transmission of diseases to other animals, including my own resident cats. YOUR ANIMAL MUST BE ON FLEA/TICK/HEARTWORM PREVENTION. The safety and comfort of your pet is my main priority and these rules are in place so that I can ensure this.

Alyson was amazing! Seriously, the best cat sitter I've ever had. Her sweet and calm demeanor makes her perfect for working with pets. My cats are a bit skittish but they really seemed to take a liking to her. She did a great job regarding my specific feeding instructions. She also had no trouble giving my cat her medication. Her daily photos and updates put my mind at easy, and the cats were super happy and clearly well taken care of while I was away. I will be using Alyson again!

We have a 135 lb male newfoundland who we adopted when he was 18 months old, and who has exhibited some challenging behaviors at times. I cannot say how thankful we were when Alyson agreed to come and stay with our newfie for 2 weeks, when we were away. Our newfie simply adores her. She walked him, fed him, loved in, and responded to emails with updates when we were away. She is incredibly responsible and a lovely person and we would ask her to return to doggie sit again, in a heartbeat. Thank you Alyson for your help with Hudson!

Information Alyson A. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting a dog, I would like to know any allergies, medications, any schedule your dog is on(times for potty, food, etc), and their general temperament. I have no breed preferences, but am most comfortable with dogs under 100lbs. I have experience pet sitting 200lbs+ dogs, but I already had a relationship built with them and knew the family well.

A typical day

I would love to take your dog(s) on walks around your area for at least 30 minutes each outing. With your permission, I would also be happy to take your dog to the beach or a park where we can play fetch and run around and then relax and enjoy the fresh air. For home stays, your dog and I will spend lots of time playing with toys and keeping each other company. I know how stressful it is for the dog and the owner when they are away from each other and I would like to provide comfort for your dog and your own piece of mind. For walks and drop ins, I provide a picture and a message every visit. For house sitting, I provide a picture and a short update every day unless you would like me to update you more or less.
