I’m Allyson, and my husband is Jose. We met at Duke undergrad and have been together for 7 years. I rescued my chihuahua Ruby in 2018 as an older dog, and she was my sweet angel. She was found as a stray and most likely was abused/neglected. As she got older, she got diagnosed with mitral valve disease and mammary gland carcinoma. I became extremely experienced with tending to her healthcare as a senior dog, including daily medication, surgery aftercare, teeth brushing, medical diets, etc. Sadly, we lost Ruby to congestive heart failure in October 2023. I also have experience caring for younger dogs.

Phoebe had a great stay! We were able to meet and greet prior to booking. During her stay, Allyson and Jose provided us with lots of updates and photos. Her grooming routine was maintained and medications provided as requested. Will definitely book again!

As we mourn the loss of our beloved chihuahua, we do not have a dog currently. We miss caring for dogs so much, and we are passionate about keeping them as happy and comfortable as possible. We live in a townhouse with sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. Part of the Greenway trail goes through our neighborhood, allowing us easy access for walking trails. We also live close to Bond Park, which we liked to take our dog to.

Note: we will only take dogs who sleep reliably in their own bed or crate. We don't allow dogs in our bed - and we prefer that they can sleep outside of our bedroom. House-trained only. Our entire house has hardwood floors that can get scratched easily - please be mindful of your dog's nail length. The most important thing is for you as an owner to feel seen and heard. Definitely let me know if your dog requires any special kind of care, attention, medication, etc.
A typical day
Jose and I love to go on walks through the neighborhood and on trails like the Greenway to honor our late chihuahua. We also love going to the parks nearby to walk including Godbold Park and Bond Park.

Availability
I work remotely, and my meetings usually run from 11 AM to 5 PM with breaks in between so I can tend to your dog. I also often take meetings on my phone so I can go on a walk outside. Jose is a grad student at Duke and is home every morning and all day on Fridays. On the weekends, we love to go on walks and try to stay fit while also relaxing in our home.
