Lifelong Dog Lover, Works from Home

Pet care experience

I have taken care of dogs in some capacity for more than 20 years. I started off in the dog show world, showing bulldogs and french bulldogs. I owned several, from showdogs to pets, and even raised a litter! When you are in that world you are constantly taking care of your own dogs, and other people's dogs and puppies for extended periods of time. I learned to love all different temperaments, personalities, and ages. I am highly experienced with these short-faced breeds and their specific needs. Although I spent so much time in the world of purebreds, I've loved dogs my whole life. I have now moved on to adoption and rescue and it's become my passion. I adopted my girl, Boba (as in the tapioca pearls, not Fett), from a local Bay Area rescue. Since then I have fostered several dogs, all from Korea (shout out to Love Second Chances rescue!), from puppies to adults, all different sizes. I am active and enjoy taking dogs out for long walks and hikes, especially on the weekends and often mid-week. I frequent Point Isabel, Wildcat Canyon, Point Pinole, Lafayette Reservoir, and even make the trek to Fort Funston! I also have a group of friendly, well-socialized, well-behaved dogs in my neighborhood that would be good for easy socialization and play. I prefer to take on one dog for boarding, and one dog for daycare at a time so I can provide as much personalized time and attention as possible, but occasionally we will accept a 2nd boarding dog (usually repeat dogs since we know their temperament). Sometimes, the boarding and daycare will overlap so please know that situation may arise. If you are uncomfortable with that, please let me know ahead of time and we can adjust accordingly. I have had to board my own dog with sitters that had many dogs at the same time and I know she didn't receive personalized care, like long walks, focused playtime, or snuggle time on the sofa. I will treat your dog the way I would want my dog treated! Dogs have been my world for most of my adult life, I really don't know a life without them!

Allora was great! I only have positive things to say, Coco seemed so happy staying with her and her family. Allora sent me frequent updates and pictures which was great! I will definitely be boarding Coco with her again.

Allora and her family are awesome!! You can tell they genuinely love dogs. Nori seemed so happy and comfortable with them. Allora only cares for 1-2 dogs at a time. She makes sure they get one on one attention and they are closely supervised at all times. We are lucky to have found Allora.

Allora and Oliver provided our dog (and us) with everything we could have hoped for and more. They took wonderful care of our lab/pit mix Milo! We received lots of messages, photos, and videos throughout the time he was boarded. Milo had an absolute blast, we could see how happy and settled he was - playing freely, getting good cuddles, and lounging around relaxed ☺️ we were very happy to see that Milo and their dog Boba got to be friends as well. We are so glad Milo has found a home away from home and we will absolutely be returning on a regular basis. Thank you, Allora and Oliver 🙏

It is our first time using Rover and we chose the right person to take care of our puppy Max. Allora and her family were amazing. She had him for the day and he had the time of his life! They constantly kept us updated with photos and videos and even let him wear an Air Tag to make sure he's safe. We'll definitely let our dog stay over here again!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a single-family, two-story home in a quiet neighborhood with secure fencing around the backyard. No rear neighbors as we back up to a ridge, very peaceful. Dogs in my care have access to the entire home. When they are in the backyard I am also there so I always have eyes on them. At night they will sleep in my room, in whatever is the most comfortable for them, whether it's a dog bed, crate, or on the floor. I have an 11-year old daughter. She has grown up with dogs, reptiles, and horses, a true animal lover like her mom! She is loving, respectful, and well-mannered with the dogs in our care. She enjoys having the dogs sleep with her so if your dog is allowed on the bed, they will most likely end up on her bed! Our dog is Boba, a 3-year old Aussie/Husky mix we adopted during the pandemic (we got her when she was 1 yr-old). She gets along well with other dogs. She is still playful when she wants to be but most oftentimes she can be aloof and introverted. She is especially tolerant and accepting of puppies and high-energy dogs. Because of our continued fostering, she is very comfortable with dogs coming and going and will often keep to herself. We keep a consistent, quiet and calm household. We rarely have visitors. It's great for dogs that are more introverted and/or need a quieter environment. I am so diligent and careful with my dogs on walks that I have them connected to my waist in addition to their lead. We will not let your dog off-leash unless we feel confident in their recall or we have notified you beforehand. We like to outfit the dogs we watch with an Apple Airtag as an added precaution. Boba has an Airtag herself. I also understand the importance of getting updates on your dog for reassurance and peace of mind. I love taking dog photos so I will provide photo and text updates throughout the stay. I check my phone and email all day so I am very quick to respond to any requests or questions.

Information Allora A. would like to know about your pet

It is really helpful to know your schedule and preferences at home so I can continue those habits (for example, if your dog isn't allowed on the sofa I will do the same). I would also like to know more of your dog's personality, quirks, and habits, especially any behavior that could affect their safety and security (for example, is your dog prone to escaping? Can your dog clear a 6 ft fence if there's deer on the other side?). The safety of your dog is my utmost priority. I also like to know any relevant medical information, like allergies or recent illness.

A typical day

I believe in providing daily exercise. During the week I typically take a long walk around my neighborhood in the morning then another in the afternoon. For dogs that are toy motivated I have a variety of tugs, chews, and balls for play time in the backyard. On the weekends I love to take longer walks and hikes on trails and open spaces so the dog can explore new environments and terrain. For a mental challenge I also have interactive feeding puzzles.

My job is currently hybrid, with hope that it can be remote full time again. This means I may be called into the office 2-3 times a week. In those cases, my partner, who also works from home and is fully remote, will be there to watch your dog while I am away. When one of us is home, we are both completely hands-on and present. We provide walks, playtime, and potty breaks multiple times throughout the day.
