Individualized Pet Care
Pet care experience
20 years of pet-sitting and animal care experience for my family, friends, and community in Vermont. I have had dogs, cats, fish, small mammals, and birds of my own since 2009. 5 years of professional animal care and handling in the nonprofit sector. I have worked in animal care, lost/found pet reunification, and adoption capacities, and hold a Fear Free Shelters certification. I have developed skills to identify and alleviate stress, provide enrichment and exercise, administer medications, and ensure the safety and contentment of many companion and exotic species. I hold a Master of Science in Anthrozoology, the study of human-animal relationships, and served an Internship with the San Diego Humane Society's Community Cat Program.
Reviews
Allison was great - timely responses during booking process, kind with my animals and put me at ease while I was away. My dog loved her and didn't seem to mind me not being home!
Allison is a true animal lover with a delightful attitude. While on vacation we received photos and videos showing us that our cat Charlie was doing fine and was well taken care of allowing us to relax. Allison is an awesome pet sitter and we would definitely call on her again to care for Charlie when we are away.
We had a wonderful experience when Allison watched our cat, Scout. We were definitely anxious when we went away, but Allison calmed our nerves by giving us updates when she did drop-in visits to let us know how Scout was doing. She lovingly cared for Scout, even with her ornery and temperamental attitude! Allison is an amazing critter caregiver!
I felt very secure as I left Gardner with Alison for her sleepover. I received photos of them snuggling, so I know they were comfortable together. We will be happy to book again with Alison in the future.

Safety: I request each client provide me with their veterinarian's information and an emergency contact. Your pet's safety is my top priority. On walks: I carry a slip leash, high-value treats, a cell phone, and pepper spray on all walks. I have experience walking dogs with all kinds of leash manners, reactivity, and mobility types. Dog parks: I have experience working with groups of dogs and have been trained on how to respond in the event of dog-dog and dog-human altercations. In the home: I will take your lead and use positive reinforcement to maintain all boundaries you have set for your pets. My goal is to keep your pet's routine as normal as possible while you're not there.
Information Allison S. would like to know about your pet
Medical conditions and allergies, vaccination status, sociability with other animals, diet, activity level, routines, designated elimination areas, off-limits behavior/food, any special needs requirements, and what your expectations are for the visit.
A typical day
Your pet will enjoy positive-reinforcement training, games, fetch/frisbee, tug of war, food enrichment, or whatever their preferred activity is. Dog parks are an option if your dog is familiar with that environment. I live near Woodley Park which has tons of open space, or we can walk around your neighborhood.
