Pets are my passion! Let’s meet!

Pet care experience

I have personal, professional, and medical pet care experience. I’ve grown up around cats, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, horses, and fish. As an adult, I am the proud owner of cats, dogs, rats, and fish! I worked professionally in animal welfare for over 2 years, taking care of the animals and their environments, and often assisting with medical tasks, as well. I am also a foster for humane society pets - I have taken underage puppies and kittens, sick pets, under-socialized pets, pets recovering from surgeries, and senior pets. I am the owner of a senior dog, and have owned two puppies. I’ve gone through professional training with both of them! I am certified in animal disease control and prevention, as well as animal behavior and enrichment, due to my line of work. I am happy to show my certificates of these! I am comfortable administering medications, handling pets of all demeanors, training, feeding, cleaning up any type of messes, transporting, and more.

I met Allie at Lynchburg Humane Society. She had been there a few months before me and immediately was a friendly face and huge help. I had a first hand account of her passion and genuine care for the pets. She then got promoted to supervisor which brought morale and hope to our animal care team. She does a lot that isn’t expected of her. For example, in Allie’s office she has kept a sweet, sick kitten named gummy bear for some stress free housing. After Gummy Bear was showing she didn’t have an appetite, Allie went out with her own money and picked out all of her favorites. I’ve also accompanied her on multiple trips to petco after work to replace lost or broken toys that were extra special to our pets. Allie was also my roommate for a year. She has two beautiful and incredibly sweet pitties named Atlas and Bowie, two chunky kitties named Mac and Juno, a fish with an injured fin and two of the cutest rats, Meadow and Magic. All rescued. Allie has a very admirable love for all things living and has truly inspired me and fueled my love for pets. She has been someone that has taught me grace, patience, and hard work. When i go out of town, Allie is my go to to take care of my cats. She’d even spend extra time with them so they wouldn’t be lonely, and she’d of course send me so many photos and updates. I cannot recommend Allie enough for any service you may need. If you have Allie helping you, you can guarantee you will be getting more than you paid for and your pets will be incredibly well taken care of. Allie loves any pet like it’s her own and has multitudes of experience and knowledge on pet behavior and communication signals from both cats and dogs. Again, I CANNOT recommend Allie enough.

I am trained and certified in animal disease control and prevention, as well as pet behavior and enrichment, through organizations like Maddie’s Fund, the ASPCA, and Best Friends Animal Society. I am also very thorough and good at following directions! I will gladly keep to your pets schedule and routine, be mindful of their diets and allergies when providing treats (if approved), and spend quality time with them doing their favorite activities. I know all pets have their own personalities, so I am happy to adjust my expectations for each visit to fit you and your pets wants and needs depending on the day! My experience with training is with positive reinforcement training, and I am Fear Free certified. My rates reflect both my experience in pet handling and care, and my education in pet behavior, health and medicine, and emergency response.

Information Allie M. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your pet has any special needs, allergies, or behaviors I should be aware of! I’d also love to know their favorite treat, activity, and toy. I’m more than happy to accommodate you and your pet during my time with them, and I want to make sure I leave them feeling enriched, happy, comfortable, and maybe even ready for a good nap until you get home!

A typical day

I have a fenced in yard that I am able to let dogs run around in. I also am familiar with the many trails along Blackwater Creek, and enjoy going for long walks with dogs along those! I have enrichment items I can provide for dogs that need physical and mental stimulation, or for rainy days that don’t allow for much outdoor time. I also enjoy neighborhood drives with the windows down, for dogs that don’t want to walk too far but want to get in lots of sniffs.

While I am currently working full-time, I would love to transition from my current job to a more flexible schedule, so I’m looking to build a clientele of regular pets! I’d love to be able to form trusting, fun, and lasting connections. I’m happy to be as flexible as needed on my current days off, and foresee much more availability in the next month or so, which I think works great for building that relationship and trust before transitioning into more regular and full-time schedules with you and your pets. I am happy to work as-needed as well!
