INTRO: Not only are dogs my favorite “hobby,” they are my truest passion. In September 2020, I lost my Golden to cancer and lost my Aussie a couple of years before him. For the first time in my life, I was dogless. To fill the void, I started volunteering at Anderson Animal Shelter and walking for Rover.com. At the end of February, we adopted our first rescue - Bruce! He is a one-year-old border collie mix. We love him so much already and he fits right in to our active lifestyle! EXPERIENCE: Throughout my life and at the shelter, I’ve had experience with breeds of all ages and sizes, all with a variety of temperaments. I have the most personal experience with senior dogs, and my Aussie was deaf, so I have some special needs experience as well! For most of my life, I've had multiple dogs at once, so I am comfortable handling several dogs on walks or playdates. I have participated in various training styles such as basic obedience, agility competitions, and novice hunting. Friends and family will attest to my natural comfortability with all dogs. I do not harvest fear, no matter how sweet or aggressive the dog may be, though I am cautious and take necessary precautions when meeting new animals and working with behavioral dogs. I have completed the Fear Free certification, an online course designed "to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them."
