Pet care experience
(Please see the notes below: > A meet-n-greet is required for any dog I have not previously watched. > dog with flu or kennel cough symptoms, day or overnight care will have to be cancelled) I have an unique, special dog play area : a private 1/3 acre, fully fenced dog park next to my backyard in the heart of the city - Doggie Neverland. Your dog will get lots of playtime with other dogs and lots of room for fetch. I treat dogs as if they were my own. I am very experienced with and knowledgeable about dogs, from behavioral and health issues, to the need to provide them with daily exercise, attention, and affection. I grew up with dogs (lots of them) and have had a dog of my own since I was 10. I am very intuitive with them, I see and understand things about dogs that many people don't see, and have very good verbal command over them. My friends call me the Dog Whisperer. Dogs are happier and better behaved when they get lots exercise and play, they are allowed to be part of a pack to socialize with, and they get consistent direction on what is allowed and what's not allowed. Several people have told tell me their dog is better behaved after staying with me. I have been the go-to person for 30 years for pet-sitting for many friends. I have cared for puppies on up to senior dogs needing walking assistance, daily meds and even chemo visits. I give all dogs the same level of attention and affection I give my dog. My 11 year-old German Shepherd has Separation Anxiety (very bad when I got her), so I know how stressful it can be to have someone watch your dog. I provide daily texts/photos/video to put you at ease to let you know your dog is doing well and having a blast at doggie summer camp. I work from home so your dog will get lots of supervision and care. On relatively dry days, I take them into the field several times for lots of play. I am very selective with who I accept for day or overnight care. I only take sweet dogs with no aggression issues and who get along well with other dogs. If your dog is Alpha and proud of it or has leash/food/toy/ball/jealousy/male aggression issues and/or has a history of attacking other dogs, you should pass on contacting me. I cannot care for intact males, but I might make exceptions for puppies. Unspayed females under 1.5 year I can take. I can't take dogs in heat or might possible go into heat. **PLEASE NOTE**: I have a firm meet-n-greet requirement for any dog I haven't cared for previously, whether for an overnight stay or day care. So, last minute care-requests (eg, the day before) can be hard if there's no time for a meet-n-greet.
Reviews
Allen was very responsive from the time I booked a meet & greet to when he took care of my dog, Kau Kau. He also was very patient with her since she does have some separation anxiety and I appreciated that very much. I definitely would recommend Allen as a doggy daycare option. Thanks.
Mezzi had an absolute blast with Allen. He has a high back yard that is a doggos heaven, where they can run and play for a long time. Allen is also very attentive and communicates really well.
Allen is an amazing dog person, caregiver, and instructor, and our sweet pooch Annie adores him. She has a truly excellent experience every time we board Annie with Allen, and he sends us pictures and videos daily of her interactions with the other dogs. Allen's house has access to a wonderful outdoor space with trees and room to run and play ball. He really gets to know your dog and I am so grateful for his care for Annie when we are out of town!
Our always has a great time and gets plenty of exercise and excellent care at Allen’s!

Please fill fill out the dog(s)' Rover profile(s) and include photos. If you don't, I get a default profile that answers NO to every question, e.g., if the dog is fixed, gets along with other dogs, house-trained. Useful information is: > Food quantities & restrictions, heath issues and meds. > Emergency contact: My mother is 92. I ask people for an emergency contact should I have to fly to LA for an emergency. > Does the dog: - get along well with other dogs? - have aggression issues (food/leash/toy/males)? - have a history of attacking another dog or biting a person? - have separation anxiety issues? - have any bad or destructive habits, like chewing on furniture, paper/books, etc? IF yes, please elaborate. > Please bring your dog's bed, food and special treats. I don't need bowls or toys. > Any behavioral or leash issues you want fixed? I'm good with dogs.
A typical day
I am very lucky to have a 1/3 acre, fully fenced private dog-park next to my back yard. It's a grass and wood-chipped field. I have a long 1.5-2 hr play session in the morning and on dry days let them in the field several times during the day. I generally don't need to leash-walk dogs for exercise since they get lots of play. Though I can train dogs to leash walk if they have issues with pulling of being leash reactive.
