I have experience pet sitting (cats, dogs, chickens, and small exotics), dog walking, zoo keeping, owning a variety of animals and unlike many other sitters have done animal behavior research and have animal-based medical experience. I have a bachelor's degree in animal science and technology and am currently furthering my passion for small animals by pursuing a doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Florida. Prior to the start of veterinary school, I worked in a boarding facility and managed up to 40 dogs at a time for 1 year. I then became a small animal technician and worked as one for 3 years. Lastly, I worked as a zookeeper for exotic animals for 1 year, after which I became a student again. Currently, I have completed one year of veterinary school and am working as an intern and technician at an animal hospital in Fairfax VA. I am passionate about all animals, but especially cats and dogs, and giving them the best possible care I can in any manner. Even if that just means taking a pup for a walk to burn off some extra energy and keep their tail wagging. During my previous petsitting experiences I have given oral medication, given ocular medications, given subcutaneous fluids, expressed bladders, giving insulin or other injectable medications, cleaned ears, bathed, trimmed nails, changed bandaging on wounds, and taken care of animals of all ages from puppies- seniors. I also have worked with a plethora of aggressive animals and comfortable with animals who are not socialized/ don't get along well with other dogs.
