Pet care experience
I’ve helped care for my family’s dogs since I was in university. I’ve helped raise 4 puppies from as young as 8 weeks old, and have cared for an elderly dog with various medical issues. My family and friends often rely on me to care for their pups (large breed) when they’re out of town, usually overnight either at their house or mine. I’ve also helped with bathing, nail trimming and giving medication (oral and IV). I’ve spent a lot of time in training classes with the family pups and have quite a bit of knowledge on obedience training. Dogs have been a part of my family for many years and are very much treated as family members, not just a pet.

I will care for your pet just as you would in your home to keep their routine. While I don’t have a fenced in yard yet, I have plenty of space for them to roam on a long leash, and have a kennel/kennel cover for your pet indoors. I like to take the pups on long walks, do training or keep them busy/active (if they’re able). Whatever routine they’re comfortable with!

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs ahead of time so I can prepare. I’d like to know if there’s a specific routine to follow, if the dog is kennel/potty trained, and if his/her nails are maintained if staying at my house.
A typical day
I like to keep the dogs active - mentally or physically - through long walks, taking in new smells around the neighbourhood, training exercises or reward-based games for stimulation. I think it’s important to stick to routine and ensure the dogs get decent nap times (if they’re still young and growing). Sitting out on the front step and people watching is always a favourite past time for my family’s pups! There’s always time for cuddles too.

I am a federal government employee who works from home full-time. While I often have many meetings, I can easily work from anywhere and/or leave home for periodic walk/bathroom break. My mornings and evenings are always open.
