Animal LOVER!

Pet care experience

While your dog is with me I can guarantee they will be having a blast! This is not "boarding" in the traditional form, this is more like asking a friend to watch your dog. I only allow one dog at a time for boarding so that we can make sure they feel like part of the family and can go on all outings etc. with us! (the only exception is dogs of the same family.) Caring for dogs has always been my passion. I grew up with animals, my dad worked at a vet and I was lucky enough to be able to help him out in his practice. We had dachshunds and boxers when I was a kid and now I have a Dachshund and Lab's of my own! Your dog will enjoy our dog-friendly home, complete with playmates! They are all very friendly and can't wait to make new friends. I also have a cat who is dog savvy but if the dog isn't cat friendly our cat will just avoid the dog so it is not an issue.

This is the third time we have had Alissa care for our elderly dog, Chino. Alissa is so caring and understands the needs of older dogs. She sent lots of pictures and communicated with us throughout his stay. We highly recommend her!!

Mala had a great stay with Alissa and cannot wait to return! Alissa’s property is perfect for dogs needing a comfortable and safe space with lots of room to explore. Alissa provided regular updates with photos and went above and beyond to make sure Mala felt at home. Thank you!

Wonderful!!! First time leaving my diabetic pup..Alissa took such great care of her and welcomed her with open arms into her household..I felt very comfortable and confident with the loving care and attention she provided. Alissa was very communicative and right on top of things. She sent lots of pictures and updates.. so grateful! ❤️

We are protective of our puppy and would not leave her with many people but I am happy leaving her with Allison and her family. You can tell immediately that she is someone you can trust with your pup. And we were thrilled to get a quick note and video showing the silly fun the dogs were having when we were away. HIGHLY recommended!!

Safety, trust & environment

We have a 5-acre farm with lots of space to run around and have fun! We require all dogs be on leash unless explicate consent from the owner. We do have long leads that can be put into the ground so that if we want to read or hangout outside they can too, safely. Inside the house we have dog gates and only pet safe toys which they quickly discover and love! We will always discuss with you 1x1 any safety concerns. Examples: What you do when you are not home, calls/recalls they know, triggers etc.

Home

Lives on a farm/ranch
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 3 dogs, 1 cat
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Information Alissa S. would like to know about your pet

Are they fully vaccinated/on flee&tick medication? Do they get along with cats? (i have one but he also has his own room/upstairs) Any allergies/medications? Anything that frightens them or that I should keep an eye out for? Are they crate trained or what do you do with them when you are not home? What is their behavior like during this time? What helps if they have anxiety? Do they get aggressive under any circumstances? Are they protective/territorial over bones/toys? Are they allowed to have rawhide/bones? What are the "calls" and tricks they know? ie. Sit, down, leave it, shake etc.

A typical day

Aside from the land we have and brook/hiking we have behind the house; we love to go to Hedgehog Mountain, Wolfe Neck State Park, Florida Lake and Merrymeeting Park. You are sure to find us at probably all 4 sometime during each week. My dream is to retire on acres and open up a "boarding"/day school for dogs. I can't think of anything more rewarding than being able to foster and love animals all day--which is ultimately why I became a pet sitter. I'm reliable and will always treat your animals as if they were my own.

Availability

I work from home and have a very flexible schedule so your dog will get plenty of attention! I typically let them out multiple times a day and can cater to your schedule. When your dog is with me, we'll do it all! As long as weather permits they will have access to outside/inside all day as we have a very large deck with door in my office so I can watch them. We also have a trail behind our house that we frequent throughout the year even in the winter - snowshoes! During the week, we usually walk the property, trail behind the house to the brook or go to the park for about 40-60 minutes 2x a day and then go out around the property 4-5x a day for 10-15 minutes. When we aren't out exploring they will be comfortable to roam inside/outside and choose whichever bed/couch they'd like!
