Pet care experience
I have taken care of my personal pets since I could walk and have previously worked as a veterinarian’s assistant from age 16 through 20 learning how to handle and interact with pets of all sizes, ages, and personalities. My mother is also a licensed veterinary technician so I have grown up surrounded by proper veterinary care and practices. I have learned that each pet requires a personal quality of care, ie. not all of them can be treated the same. Some pets may need a more hands on style of care with lots of interactive play while others just need another presence in the room since new people can be intimidating.

Before meeting a pet, I’d like to know how reactive they are with other dogs and people and how you as the owner typically correct or reinforce behaviors. If I am walking a dog and they are one that likes to jump up or bark, knowing how you would handle that yourself helps me to keep congruency between care.
A typical day
I love being able to work with dogs skills they know and practice them as this can be different for the dog than just with their owner. I love being able to do enrichment activities like lick mats and treat hide-and-seek around the house or even as a park. I haven’t lived in the area very long, so getting to explore new places for walks together in parks and neighborhoods is my favorite.
