Pet care experience
I grew up with two large dogs in my childhood, and that was only the beginning! I was reliable for pet care starting around age 8, and have loved to care for and help animals ever since. Throughout high school my family had 2 small dogs and at our peak we had 7 cats that were ours. I got my parents into the idea of fostering kittens from a local shelter as well, so we have seen over 200 kittens go through our home and get adopted in the past 5 or so years. This also gives me the unique skill set to be comfortable not only with aggressive and timid cats, but also be able to give them medications if needed. Some extra services I am happy to help with in pet care would be bathing, trimming nails, medication administration, walking, and of course feeding.

Alissa was wonderful! We were in a pickle and needed someone to stay with our chocolate lab on short notice. She was available and it worked out great. She was very responsible, kind and respectful. Our house was pristine when we returned, and our dog was happy as always.

I offer my services on a wide sliding scale of what the owners prefer! Some pets don’t need as many visits or hang out time, while others need full time care and attention. I am happy to meet you and your pet at their level of need. I am available to stay overnight to care for pets, or drop in before and after my shifts to feed and hang out with them to make sure they get plenty of love!

Definitely important to let me know if your pet needs any medication, has particular commands for potty or going to bed, and if they have any odd habits that might catch me off guard! During walk through interviews I usually ask about where cleaning supplies are stored for if there are any accidents, and I like to know a preference on if you’d like me to stay at your house overnight.
A typical day
I love going for long walks with dogs and especially enjoy playing with kitties. If your cat is allowed outside I like to take them out to chill if it’s nice out and if you have a high energy dog I’m more than happy to take them to a forest preserve for a nice long walk. All pets I take outside in tall grass/wooded areas are given a thorough examination for any ticks before going inside.

Availability
Currently, I am working through this service part time along with my main job as a barista. My biggest goal would be to be able to make your days/weeks easier for whatever you may need help with. If I am given a schedule that works best for both you and your pet a month or more in advance, I can absolutely make it work.
