Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and they’ve always been a big part of my life! I now have a family of my own and my 2 daughters (age 15 and 13) share my love for dogs and help care for our dog and cat, Mrs. Biggleswade and Yuppers (they both came with their names when we rescued them.... in case you're wondering :) ) I also own a dog food business so I am quite literally always thinking about dogs! I love taking great care of my pets and yours, including feeding them a healthy diet, walking them frequently, taking them for lots of playtime and exercise at the park and beach and bathing and brushing (we like to keep them clean since we allow them on the furniture and beds). I work from home and like to take our family dog with us when we leave the house (to drive the kids to school etc.). Our lifestyle is pretty active with lots of opportunities for exercise but if your doggie prefers to relax & rest we can easily adjust. We have a fenced backyard that's always available (with a door out that is in my office where I work during the day). In addition, I typically fit in 3 long walks per day plus some exercise like ball throwing in our yard, at the beach or a fenced dog park. You'll often find us walking the neighborhood, throwing the ball in GGP, playing at Ocean or Baker Beach, checking out one of the dog-friendly parks in the city, or snuggled up on the couch at the end of the day. We have a very pet-friendly and joyful environment in our home. We treat our pup guests like people, while also making sure they're always safe and have doggy manners. My daughters are very used to being around dogs and respectful of their cues and personal space. At the same time they're always ready to give a nice belly rub, play tug of war or snuggle up when the time is right. Our family dog is allowed on furniture and sleeps with one of us at night -- yours can do the same or if you prefer we will respect and maintain whatever your rules are at home.
Reviews
Tot had a great stay with Alison! She came back happy and tired from all the adventures. Highly recommend using Alison.
Amazing people and my dogs were so happy they almost didn’t want to come home! Thank you!!
Alison does a great job with my dog! I love the photo updates and the fact that she comes home so tired. Highly recommend!
Alison took fantastic care of my puppy for the day. Cardi got plenty of attention, walks/a run, and adventures, and came home happily worn out. Alison was very communicative and shared updates throughout the day. Best experience on Rover yet, and I’d definitely leave my pup in her care again.

"How do you care for pets in your home and/or your client's home?": I treat the pets in my home as if they are my own, with the same privileges and rules. For the first few hours I always separate a new dog from my dog to give them each a chance to get used to the new smells. I do the same for feeding until I really know how each dog’s personality meahes with our dog's. Since my children were young when we adopted our cat and dog, safety has always been a huge priority, which established a foundation of good habits. We all have a good understanding of how to handle dogs and keep them both comfortable and safe (e.g. my kids know not to leave food out or buried in their backpacks....). They also know to take precautions such as closing the inside door to keep the pets contained before opening the outside door at the front of the house. I don't typically leave any of the pets alone for more than two hours and when I do occasionally go out I make sure to keep the animals in separate areas of the house until I’m 100% sure that they're all comfortable together. For any day that I may need to be away for longer than two hours, I will discuss this with you before accepting your booking. I would say my style is very kind, nurturing, respectful and authoritative (similar to how I parent my kids :) ). There's not any yelling, just gentle reinforcements (e.g. bringing the dog right outside if they have an accident).

Information Alison T. would like to know about your pet
How do they behave with other dogs, cats and children. What has their exposure been? How much exercise they like to be at their best. Are they allowed dog treats? Are they allowed on furniture? Do they pull on the leash? What are their bathroom habits? Will they chew furniture, shoes etc.?
A typical day
We love to walk around the Outer Richmond and Sea Cliff, Land’s End, the Presidio, go to Baker and Ocean Beach, go to the dog park in GGP. During the week, I take my kids to school in the car and bring my dog (and yours) to the Presidio or Crissy Field after drop off. I like to take a midday break to walk with my dog (and yours) around the neighborhood. We often stop at Crissy Field or another park again after I pick my kids up from school in the late afternoon. The backyard is always available to the dogs when we’re not out and about. On the weekends we like to explore new places and spend more time lounging at local parks. I also love hiking and running, which our family dog doesn’t enjoy, but I’m always happy to have more active dogs join me!

"How does pet care fit into your daily or weekly routine?": I'm currently working part time from home and have an extremely flexible schedule. I typically let my dog out in the backyard when she gets up + right before bed and take her on three walks or outings per day (~8:30AM, 1:00PM, 6:00PM). I also let her out in the backyard as "requested" throughout the day. On sunny days she sometimes likes to lounge on the outdoor furniture. Our dog eats 2X per day (~7AM and ~5:30PM) and gets dog treats here and there. I'm happy to adjust our routine to accommodate your doggie's needs and preferences!
