The pros of pet-sitting by far outweigh the cons of boarding. The questions is, “Who?” Not just anybody will do. It’s finding the “right” person with the qualities that count. Sure, there are skills required, but attitude and awareness are what's most important… I am service-oriented through and through. My professional experiences have included hospitality management, holistic healing and, since living on Kauai, housekeeping, all of which offer many transferable skills that make me a competent, reliable and attentive caregiver. I am calm, compassionate and dependable. Most importantly, I am focused, nurturing and sensitive to your pet’s needs. So, how did I get into pet-sitting? Well, like anything that is Divinely guided, it unfolded organically. I had just returned to island, after being away for a year nursing my terminally ill mum in the UK, when a friend invited me to pet-sit for her. She knew caring for her adorable pups would be a timely heart-healing experience for me and she knew I would be equally loving and nurturing in return. She also felt at ease knowing her property would be properly cared for as she is familiar with my property management and cleaning expertise. My quiet and respectful lifestyle was equally appreciated. To my surprise, it turned into a most rewarding experience. The pups and I bonded very quickly and my love and attentiveness was reciprocated tenfold. It gave me great pleasure and a sense of purpose to get to know each of them and honor their individual personalities and needs. I found myself looking forward to getting home to the pups on days I didn't work from home and spending all my free time with them. It was the most enjoyable experience and one I will treasure forever. In true Kauai-style, my journey has become one of unexpected serendipity! A stellar reference and word travels quickly. The response has been heartening and I have been busy pet-sitting ever since! I feel honored to provide such a purposeful and appreciated service to the community.
