I am a beginner pet owner that has cared for two small dogs and a guinea pig. I have done research on dogs in general and certain breeds that I have considered owning. I have always loved animals from a young age and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way but there's just something about the bond that forms between ourselves and our dog and/or cat. Its a bond I like to honor. I always try to treat others and my own pets as if they are my friends. I am willing to care for most dogs and willing to work with most temperaments. The only type of dogs I am not willing to work with are dogs that are not spayed/neutered. If you are looking for a dog host I apologize but my living situation doesn't permit me to take care of pets in my own home. However I will be offering those services in the future. I like to give animals the freedom to just do what they do. I will only discipline the dog when I see that they are doing something that would otherwise be cause for punishment (a.k.a time-out. I do not believe in resorting to violence for discipline in general.) When I was taking care of my pets I would get their first meal ready in the morning, around 8. And then I would usually take care of some things to let 30 minutes go by and then I would take them for their walk as well as to let them use the bathroom. I would do this for all of their meals. Their second meal would be at 3, and last meal would be at 9. And of course since they are small dogs I would feed them a cup of dog food for breakfast and lunch and for dinner only half a cup. On their walks I would play fetch with them and run with them. I usually took them to a dog park. But sometimes I would just take them on walks around the neighborhood and play with them at a little outdoor lounge area in the neighborhood. And when we would be hanging out inside I would play with them with their toys and various difficulties of "where's the treat?" A mentally stimulating game for all dogs. I don't know if that's officially what its called but its a simple game where you show your pet the first few times where you place the treat under the cup then having them look for it. Increasing the difficulty as you progress. And when we're relaxing we're just snuggled up on the couch. Unfortunately my work does not allow me to bring my dog in. If you required your dog to be watched for more than a few days I am more than comfortable with bathing them. I hope this gave you a good idea of whether or not I would be a good fit to look after your furry companion.
