Hi, thank you so much for your consideration! Animals are what make me genuinely happy in life, and rescuing and caring for them is a great passion of mine. I have personally cared for pets since I was a young child (dogs and cats, as well as miscellaneous animals like birds, bats, reptiles and amphibians) due to my father being big into rescuing (birds, bats, snakes...) which means I am comfortable with any pet. I currently have five pets of my own, one foster dog and four cats, all rescued from the streets of Houston, having had all of the cats since they were tiny babies-I bottle fed and stimulated two of the cats so I know what it's like to be on alert at all times, especially through the night; and my foster Border Collie mix since early January. The last eight years, I have been working with small children at a school and have gained a lot of experience in caring for their specific needs for attention and nurturing, which, to me, is similar when it comes to pets. Pets are our family, our children, and they should be treated as such. I will offer your pets unconditional love and care as if they were my own, to ensure they are comfortable and happy while you are away, no matter what. I provide photo and text updates tailored to your needs. My schedule is very flexible weekdays and weekends. I am also willing to travel all around Houston and its surroundings. I will make sure your pets are safe and comfortable at all times. Any instructions and warnings you have will be taken very seriously and followed to the letter, as well as reported to you.

I've used Alice a number of times to pet sit at my home for my 5 pets (4 cats and 1 dog). Alice is a true animal lover, very caring, very conscientious of her responsibility and I can count on her 100% to care for my babies. Alice goes above and beyond her assigned tasks and will often come in just to sit and play with the animals. And they respond to her care and attention very well. They just love her! I can wholeheartedly recommend Alice as a reliable caretaker for your pets.
My husband, Baci (our Australian Shepard), and I recently moved into sweet little neighborhood community where we were able to meet and get to know Alice! Over the course of a few months, I learned of her love of animals and how she enjoys helping care for other people's pets when they need someone. She and her mother were always very friendly and respectful to both us, as well as playful and kind towards our Baci. So, when we went out of town over the Christmas Holiday, we immediately thought of sweet Alice and hoped she would be able to care for our pup while we were away. Thankfully she agreed! Now, this was our first time EVER having someone come over to our house while we were gone to care for our dog, so naturally I was a little nervous leaving her all alone. However, Alice soothed all my worries and doubts. I got constant updates - every time she went over to either feed or walk Baci, she would text me and tell me how it went. She even sent me photos of Baci and them together! It made my dog-heart so warm and helped me feel confident that my doggie was getting loved even though I wasn't there. I originally asked Alice to feed and walk Baci x2/day, walks being ~10-15 min. She would do that, but sometimes more if she had the opportunity (longer walks, extra stop-ins to just pet and love on her)! She even checked in on her a 3rd or 4th time when there was a little concern about Baci's bowel movements. She really did a GREAT JOB! I could tell Alice genuinely cared for Baci and it showed by how professional and communicative she was! I would hire Alice again in a heartbeat!

I would like to know the pet's general temperament and habits, so I have a clear idea of what to expect. I would also like to be aware of any special requirements they have. I do not have any breed preferences.
A typical day
I enjoy walks along the Bayou, or on the woodsy trails around Memorial Park and the Arboretum, and I think your dog would to! If it is muddy we wouldn't go on dirt trails (or I could wash your dog afterwards if you don't care if they get muddy) and just stick to the paved trails. I will also research all the dog parks and dog friendly areas around your home so that your pet has a chance to socialize and play (with me and/or other dogs).

Availability
I currently work from 2pm to 630pm at a school, so I am available mornings to midday, and evenings and weekends. I have a car so I can also provide rides to the vet, daycare, groomer or similar.
