My husband and I love dogs. We have a plott hound who we rescued three and a half years ago and we can't get enough of her. But we often find one dog isn't enough. That's why we love whenever a friend asks us to watch their dog while they're out of town. We figured we should stop wishing our friends go on more vacations and instead sign up to watch other people's dogs more regularly! I work from home three days a week and downtown the other two days. When I'm home, I love taking breaks to give belly rubs. We walk our dog twice a day--a nice morning walk and then one in the evening. We also have a great front balcony (with a safe, high railing) that our dog loves to lie out on. We are on the second floor (so one and a half flights up) and there's a small fenced in backyard to the house as well. It's a pretty sweet life! We love going to the park on weekends and we always do a nice longer walk on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm a runner, so if you have an energetic pup, I'm happy to take them on a nice run. One note is that we have neighbors who we don't want to disturb, so we try not to watch dogs that bark indoors. While we don't allow our dog to sleep in our bed (she settles in on her soft dog bed nearby), we do allow other dogs to get up there. We also crate our dog when we leave and can do the same for you (if you have a crate) or leave your dog out--whatever you prefer.
