I like to discuss routine (bathroom breaks, feeding, walks, bedtime, crate use if applicable), your house rules (treats, human food, on furniture?), their favourite games, quirks, special needs, relevant medical history, how are they with other dogs? Are you comfortable with them going off leash or in a dog park with me? And any emergency contact info for them, just to make sure we don’t need it!

Fun dog activities I generally leave to the preference of the dog. When I listen, they’ll tell me how they want to play. I’ve played fetch, tug-of-war, brushing, belly rubs, back scratches, frisbee, chase, had long chats, naps, sticks, dog park, on/off-leash walks… the list goes on. My favourite places to walk are parks near your house, Kenna, Peterson, North Shore beaches, etc. Cats similarly the list varies based on temperament but has ranged from cuddling up on my lap to catching a bird on a string, chatting from an arms reach, fetch, mystery movement under a blanket, etc.
