YOUR POOCHES' FAVORITE SITTER!!!

Pet care experience

How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs. Actually, I have been a dog lover for most of my life, because I come from a family of dog lovers. As a kid, my canine friends were the ultimate pets of choice across every family member’s household. My cousins had large breed dogs, like German Shepherds, as family pets. Therefore, you would never believe me when I say that, initially, I feared larger dogs as a kid. While I am no longer afraid of dogs, my fear all started with a scary backyard and suffering a bite from a large, vicious dog as a child. At that time, I thought all dogs were vicious. Later, I learned all dogs are not vicious, and that, like people, they mimic, or react, to the behaviors and emotions of others; acting sometimes out of fear, sadness, anxiety, happiness, etc. It took a while for me to realize that, if I am afraid, a dog can sense that fear. As a result, he or she will be on guard, or may feel the need to attack. Once I understood this about dogs, I thought the best way to get over my fear was to attack it head on by adding some canine friends to the family. Our first addition was Princess, my mom’s first love, and our second addition was Lucky, my first love. Currently, it is Mya, my furry daughter. These awesome friendly pooches are why, over the years, I began to see dogs as more than vicious animals or even as loyal companions, but as family and so I began treating them as such. Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency? Currently, I do not possess my own vehicle, but I will have access to a vehicle from the hours of 4:30 pm until dawn; in the event of an emergency. However, during the hours outside this timeframe, I rely on the public transportation, Wayne Ellis Taxi service, or Uber/Lyft drivers who allow pet transportation. Are you comfortable administering medication? Yes, I am comfortable with administering medication. If you as the pet owner can please do all or a combination of the following: Leave a thorough bit of instructions (including the medication dosage, frequency, administering time(s), whether the meds are given with/without food, etc.). Provide a demonstration of how you administer the meds to your pet(s). Provide advice on any useful tips or tricks that you find work best for administering the medication more effectively. While I have experience with administering medication to animals, you know your pooch/kitty best, and any bit of knowledge is helpful. Why do you love dog sitting? I love dog-sitting, because under my care, the canines and I: ~Teach each other... -To overcome our fears/obstacles head-on (esp. after being bitten as a kid by a dog) -Patience -The Inappropriate and appropriate exchange of behavior(s) -When to be guarded, and when to be free/open -Impulse Control -Loyalty (building such a strong rapport with clients that they prefer no other sitters to me) ~Develop a strong family or pack-like bond(s), which I see as a family-like structure as close to home for me, as it can be for the dogs) ~Share a type of love one another, despite our differences ~Look forward to companionship About Me I have been a dog lover most of my life. I can’t say my entire life because I feared larger dogs as a kid. The reason was not because of their size, but their bite. Yes, I was attacked and bitten by a dog as a child. However, I soon broke out of that fear, considering I come from a family of dog lovers (esp. larger breeds). I learned that dogs, like people, react to certain behaviors. Often, the response of fear promotes a reaction of fear from the dog. This exchange of intense fear has the potential to cause either the person or the dog to be on guard or feel the need to attack. Anyways, I thought the best way to get over my fear was to attack it head on. For this reason, we added Princess to the family. Later, Lucky, and currently, Mya. Over the years, I began to see my loyal companions as family and treated them as such. Why should a client choose you to take care of their dog? Most pet parents want their fur baby cared for by a house sitter, a dog-walker, or any pet-friendly drop-in caretaker who possesses two or more good qualities such as being the following: -Reliable -Responsible -Genuine -Loving/Compassionate -Cheerful/friendly -Cautious/Careful -Flexible -A good leader/ excellent pack leader Etc. In addition to these qualities, they want someone with the appropriate experience/expertise and professionalism to sit, walk, or drop-in on their pooches. I believe I exude all of these characteristics and more. Besides caring for other family member’s pets and my own dogs over the years, I have also managed to put my heart and soul into dog sitting other pet parents’ dogs as if they were my own for 2+ years on a full-time schedule. As a result, I have built a strong rapport with my clients and their dogs, where they prefer no other sitter to me. My family, my dog, Mya and I, have solidified bonds so strong and loving that no matter how unruly or rambunctious each dog is we all still miss them and each little bothersome trait about them. SO, CHOOSE ME TO CARE FOR YOUR DOG, NOT DUE TO MY LAUNDRY LIST OF GOOD QUALITIES, BUT BECAUSE WITH ME, YOU KNOW YOUR DOG WILL BE DELIVERED THE BEST CARE!

Alexus was very kind and patient with Mocha. She tends to be a bit anxious in new environments but the time that Alexus took to walk her and help slowly integrate her into the new environment made me feel very comfortable. I received plenty of pictures of Mocha's progress which was very helpful. Will definitely book again soon!!

Not only is Alexus highly experienced but she was also very professional when it came to caring for Reesy. I could tell right away that she was very focused on ensuring that she had a good understanding of Reesy, his temperament and needs during the meet and greet and conversations we had prior to his stay. When I dropped him off, I felt like he was in good hands and I really appreciated all of the pictures she sent me of Reesy throughout the day. I was able to see how he got along with other dogs and that he seemed comfortable. So far so good. I would book with Alexus again. Her rates are very reasonable for the personalized care. I've already told a few people about her and this service.

I had to go out of town on a last minute trip, due to unforeeen circumstances and needed a dog sitter right away. Alexus immediately accomodated our request. She treated My Bentley like one of her own. I happily welcomed all of the images of my baby to reflect their activities as well as his daily interactions with the other dogs. Alexus is an awesome dog sitter, whom I highly recommend. Call Alexus today, I guarantee you won't be disappointed...

Information Alexus J. would like to know about your pet

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences? I want to know everything there is to know about your loyal friend. Realistically, the more information I know about your dog, the better. However, the most important things about the dog I look for before I commit to a sitting/walking/dropping-in, are the following: -What’s your dog’s breed? -What’s your dog’s temperament(s)? -Does your dog possess any unusual behaviors? Or, fears? What can I do to ease those fears? -How’s his or her behavior around new people (or kids) or other dogs/dog breeds? -How is your dog on the leash when walking? Will anything in the environment make it better or worse? -Will I have to enter your home to obtain your dog for a walk? If so, how? -Is there a security system within your home? Are there cameras? -What are your dog’s typical behaviors? -How does your dog indicate that he or she must relieve him- or herself? -Is your dog on a medication regimen? If so, thoroughly explain. -Does your dog have any health concerns? Any seasonal or food allergies? -Are his or her shots up-to-date? -Is he or she fully housebroken or not? Does he or she know their commands? Do you discipline your pooch? Explain.

A typical day

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day? ~During your pooch’s walk, I will be spending a total of 30 minutes walking them only (includes changing water). ~If a drop-in visit is required, I also will be spending a total of 30 minutes with your pooch. The only difference is that you can decide how that time is being spent with your pooch; whether it’s feeding and hydrating, playing, taking them out to relieve themselves, or a combination. ~While I am housesitting your pooch within your home, the time I spend with them may vary, depending on your needs. Therefore, there is no need to worry, because I can accommodate those pet parents who need full-time services. If you have a backyard, please describe it (including whether it's fenced in, the amount of space available, and general layout/terrain). Since I only provide drop-in visits and house sitting services, your backyard must be fenced, and have adequate space for play. Also, safety first is one of my models, so the backyard and its fence must be pet-proof. While this may seem like a disadvantage for pet owners whose yards aren't pet-friendly, I am open to caring for your furry friend in an empty basement, with an ample light source, where dogs can run around and play with one another (if allowed). Where will my dog sleep? Because I only provide house sitting services, your dog will sleep as he or she is accustomed to in your home. If your pooch usually sleeps in a cage at home, bedside/coach-side, or behind a pet gate, then I will be sure to keep a close eye on them wherever you or your pooch prefers he or she sleeps within your home. I merely prefer that wherever the sleeping place is to be a closed-door environment. Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it. Depending upon pet owner or neighborhood rules, and the prevalence of dogs in the neighborhood(s), the location of the dog walk may vary or may be subject to change. It would also depend on the need of the dog as for some dogs, the location can affect the outcome of the walk. To be sure, I am open to any suggestions, whether you advise walking your dog in a neighborhood dog park(s), a local park, a track, or anywhere in close proximity to your home. Carefully deciding on a walking route is important and has the potential to affect the health of your dog. Because walking is a form of exercise, the right walking location or path (i.e. with fewer distractions) will allow more time for walking so your dog is getting his or her maximum 30-min. doggie workout.
