Though Alexis is a nice girl and for the most part a proficient sitter, I will not be using her again. She didn't show up for our meet and greet, which should have been a red flag, but we were leaving town the next morning and we didn't have time to find someone else. We rescheduled for the morning we left town and she was on time and offered an excuse for her missing the previous meeting. She was supposed to let one of our dogs out for four days and then to let three of them out for 2 days. The first round went well, and she let the dog out twice a day. When Alexis was supposed to let the dogs out for the second round she didn't show. Luckily I was in cell service and decided to check and realized that the dogs had been in the house for 20 hours without being fed or let out. I immediately called Alexis, she didn't answer, but responded with a text that said she was in a movie. I asked if she had let the dogs out and she responded that she had let them out, that all was well, and that I could rest assured that everything was fine. I reviewed our camera and verified that the dogs hadn't been let out and called my friend in a panic. Luckily my friend was able to go over, after it has been 21 hours, and verified that no one had been there and the dogs were out of water. I then texted Alexis again to ask when she had let the dogs out hoping she would take the opportunity to tell the truth. She lied again telling me she let them out at 8am, which was verifiably false. Alexis showed up about an hour and a half after my initial call for her scheduled evening visit. She showed up the next day and let them out and my husband and I got home that afternoon. I texted her to thank her for watching our pets and to let her know that I knew she lied. I asked her to give us a partial refund, which she agreed too. The Rover pet service is not only a pet service, but peace of mind knowing our dogs are safe and being cared for like they're living creatures. I did not have peace of mind and was concerned for our dogs welfare during our trip. I can understand human error, but the lying, false assurances, and unwillingness to take care of the animals as quickly as possible was infuriating. We will not be using her services again.

NIGHTMARE! I hate having to leave this review, but I hope it might be helpful to someone when looking for a host. I scheduled and paid for 12 nights with Alexis (not the cheapest host) since I was going to be out of the country. I dropped my mini-schnauzer on a Wednesday night. Everything went well the first couple of days, but on Sunday I receive a text telling me my dog has been barking and that she couldn't take care of him. I was all the way across the world and had to make the impossible and pay someone else to go pick up my dog. At the end, she reimbursed me for the days my dog was not at her house... which didn't cover the amount of stress or what I had to pay the other person to take care of my dog. When you become a host, taking care of dogs, you should contemplate that the dog may pee or poop inside, bark or whine. It is the way it is. It's a dog in a new environment, far from his owner and his house. He doesn't know the noises or even the people he's staying with. So unprofessional for someone to request the dog to be picked up. I used DogVacay before and never had a similar issue. If you're looking for a host, DONT RISK IT. Sweet girl, but SO unprofessional.
