Your pets are my priority
Pet care experience
I have 10 years of pet caretaking experience including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish, and parrots. I'm comfortable caretaking for all breeds and sizes including giant breeds. I can do my best to accommodate fearful and aggressive dogs to a degree, I have extensive experience with rescues with behavioral problems but I will only accept dogs like this on a case by case basis. This is for the safety of all parties involved. I have professional experience with puppies, seniors, and disabled dogs including blind and deaf dogs as well as clipping nails and grooming including bathing and deshedding. Your pets care is my priority. My goal is to not only provide the service requested, but to provide the dog with the best possible care I can give them. Each visit will include one on one enrichment time to give your dog the most personable experience I can. It's not enough to just provide the bare minimum, the goal should be to love and care for your pet the same as you would.
Reviews
Alexis provided exceptional service to my cat Tuxy and myself. Alexis was also very flexible with schedule changes and extremely helpful in every way. Tuxy is currently in kidney failure, and needs special attention and care due to this condition. I had to take a business trip and was very distressed at being away from home. Alexis provided accurate and timely information, worked with me to take special actions to help Tuxy, and was simply excellent. I highly recommend Alexis and the service that she provided to Tuxy and myself.
Alexis did a great job taking care of my cats! I did not have to worry about them as she provided detailed daily updates with pictures. There was an issue on the first day with a missing cat, and she was able to rescue him! He is sleeping next to me now and I am so happy to have had her take care of them while I was away. Thanks again, Alexis!
Ruby had a lot of fun and the Valentines day activity Alexis did was amazing!

Safety, trust & environment
I am knowledgeable about crate training, positive reinforcement, and gentle redirection. I do not physically interact with a dog in a way that could potentially hurt. Did you know that 10 minutes of mental stimulation provides the same level of mental exercise as 30 minutes of physical activity? Physical and mental enrichment are great ways to play with and challenge your dogs! Each service I preform will include one on one time of enrichment activities best suited to the interests of your dogs. Ask me about seasonal enrichment activities! Depending on the seasons and holidays, I will try to have an optional enrichment activity you can add to your service package. These activities will be themed and allow your pup to make a lovely (and safe) keepsake just for you! Your dogs comfort is the absolute top of my priority list, however. If your pet seems uncomfortable with an activity you have chosen, I may choose to cancel that activity. In this case, I will try to find another way to spend time with your pup. Let me know if there are any specific ways your pup likes to play; their favorite kinds of toys, if they prefer just running around, or even some treat puzzles! Some dogs aren't active like that, and that's okay. In those cases, we can spend some time snuggling and getting lots of pets.
Information Alexis S. would like to know about your pet
There are several important things I would love to know beforehand. First and foremost: Behavior problems. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I do have experience with dogs with behavioral issues and I will do my best to accommodate them if I can. Each dog reacts differently to trauma they have suffered in the past, that doesn't mean they are less deserving of loving care. If your dog has any kind of fear, aggression, or other behavior problems, please be forthcoming with me. The more I know about your dog, the more I am able to interact on a level that your dog will react positively to. If your dog is over the age of 8 months AND in tact, I will require you to have a securely fitted harness available for me to use. This is to allow me to keep your dog as secure as I can to ensure they remain safe and healthy. Let me know any health or dietary problems your dogs have. Make sure all medications have clear instructions on dosage and time. I have experience with dogs prone to seizures, blind and deaf dogs, and seniors, as well as various other health issues. A list at the house would be helpful, but I will make note of everything as well.
A typical day
I will provide standard enrichment activities with every visit tailored to your dogs' interests and skills. Some examples of enrichments include playing with toys or fetch, doing training exercises, using a treat puzzle, playing "hide and seek" games, and using any toys or activities your dog enjoys at home! As often as I can, I will provide an optional Seasonal or Holiday enrichment activity in which your dog will create a cute keepsake just for you! I can't offer these year round, but I will do my best!
