Our beloved Cocker Spaniel, Reggie, passed away one year ago at age 17. Eight, possibly nine, of those years Alexis was the only person other than my wife and I to care for Reggie when we were going to be gone for more than a few hours. Alexis, Lexi to us, would often stay at our house while we were out of town. She had a special bond with Reggie; he loved her,he told me so. He even threatened to leave if we stopped letting Lexi stay with him. Lexi always took excellent care of Reggie. She gave him his medicine, fed him, walked him on the leash at least twice every day while we were gone. We never had to worry about him when he was in her care. We are still very close to Lexi and she visits us often. We think of her as one of our granddaughters and she seems to have taken on the responsibility of caring for us. We hope she continues.
